Been following it for awhile now, a friend having recently been in Japan for slightly over a week this makes me glad she returned prior to this.

Subsequently part of my province is on Tsunami Watch as a result, not where I live mind you but it is food for thought.

It all looks a bit surreal, until you see the poor bastards in their cars desperately trying to outrun the water.

First NZ and now Japan... West pacific is getting shaken up.:(

Al Jazeera is airing this online. It's pretty bad over there, though it looks like south of Tokyo didn't take much damage. Tsunami damage seems to be mostly confined to northeastern Honshu, but I'd be surprised if the other islands avoided damage . . .

Terrible stuff, seeing some of the Vids on BBC News its just sweeping across the land with ease. My thoughts and condolences to the people of Japan, although on a slightly Minor upside, they are well prepared for such events.

You may not be able to get in contact with them for awhile . . . Apparently a lot of Japan's electrical infrastructure has been shut down for the duration, as well as much of its transportation. According to one of the Al Jazeera correspondants a few hours ago, getting a cell connection out of there was pretty difficult.

It doesn't look like the death toll is going to be horrifying as natural disasters go, but economic damage is going to be terrible. A lot of Japan's agriculture seems to have been thrashed, and they already import a sizeable amount of their food . . .

Yeah. And for them it must be like hell, when they see some burning parts chasing them...
