Alright, I've been grinding away for a loooooong time, and I'm looking at buying my first capital ship. Only because I want to try out RP in something 'big and nasty'. I love the beautiful look of the Osiris, most likely under a Corsair reputation.
Would it be a good idea to buy an Osiris as my first Battleship? I've had a couple Cruisers in past, but flogged them off to invest in other things.
I plan to use it more as a heavy recon support ship, seeing as I think it would fit this role well, rather then a head on head frontline Battleship.
Anyway, I just want to hear some opinions here.
TL:DR (Its not even long don't be lazy) Osiris as first Battleship yes/no and why?
The Osiris is a very good 'Light' Battleship (Its my classification system, Light Battleships are manueverable, 12 to 14 turrets, low armor..., you get the picture, EX. Lib Dread, Ossie, Others)

It can do either. Its very flexible.
To be a head on head BS you'd need some skill however to maneuver apropriately to avoid the heavier output of larger BS's.
As for support, it's the role I'd choose.
Mount a majority of Solaris and become the best bomber killing cap since Gunboats.
Osiris the best battleship and this bs can beat even zoner juggernought(1,5 billion armor) if you will keep 2K distention and use strafe, cause the only advantage that Osiris has is agility and size. But there one annoying thing. If jugger will turn on cruisers and come too close to osiris jugger will win.
Also you can try liberty dreadnought. By Design, agility and sizable resembles to Osiris.

It's probably the "best" light BS on the server: Fastest reverse speed, small profile, tight hitbox, good hardpoint spread and excellent firing arcs.
Currently, you can do just like Cam suggests. Personally, I've only used 4 Solaris turrets (back when I had an Osiris), thus keeping the ship capable of dealing with other capships. A couple of escorting fighters flying with you isn't a bad idea either.
However, keep in mind that the hardpoints are going to be pre-set in the next mod, so no more multi-solaris setups.
Personally, I think the pre-set hardpoint idea for capships is a classic borkmove, since overspecializing has it's own inherent weaknesses.
Mine just had a Cap8 and a few Nomad Turrets to buff it up to fighting Osirises. Togo is slower, can't reverse at -50, and manuvers like a medium battleship.
Next time Jeremy, use range and move about a lot more.
