It's been a long time since the ICMG was a serious force in Discovery. For the majority of our existence, we've been a relatively inactive group, with sporadic activity from some members, and occasional one-to-three-month-long bursts of intense activity, in which much RP is done, many lulz are had, and countless floating rocks are destroyed and replaced with so much ore half of the people in the system crash from looking at it.

These are the times we wish to return to. However, we wish to accomplish this in a different manner than we were previously attempting, and a very different manner from which much of Disco is acclimated to. Instead of our previous style, we're going to be a lot more serious. We're going to put in a lot more effort than before, and we're not going to be as kind to lolwuts as before. Historically, the Independent Communist Miners' Guild's main source of members has been through a process I'm terming "intelligentsification" - that is, finding lolwuts and turning them into good people. That's just what we've always done. And we'll continue to do that, but if someone becomes a problem for us, and is requiring too much effort to intelligentsify, they're just going to be removed. The ICMG will no longer associate with people like that. But we're still going to stick to the same, lulzy attitude ingame that everyone knows and love - the same attitude that made us great in the past. The ICMG will never be a "srsbzns" faction.

As you have probably guessed, we're attempting to bring back the ICMG. But beyond "bringing it back," the faction is going to be reborn. Simply put, the ICMG is under new management. Things are going to be much different. However, there's not really a whole lot of people that remember us - before, we definitely considered ourselves "special." After all, we had a completely different RP than the IMG| or any of the other dozens of IMG groups that popped up, at one point, literally daily. We were much, much larger than the IMG| or, really, any faction on the "IMG side of things" in the Taus, and we were literally growing by the day. We probably made the most money weekly from mining alone of any IMG factions, and we were involved in nearly every single fight that occured in Tau-23, something that others cannot boast. All in all, we had gone above and beyond what anyone, even ourselves, had expected us to do.

Though those days are long gone, the hope that something as good, or even better, can still emerge, is still alive. And it is because of that hope that I address this post to you, the admins of Discovery, to listen to a proposal. I also extend an invitation to the community to read and give their feedback, both positive and negative - diamonds are made under pressure, but they're worthless if nobody puts the effort in to shine them.

To the admins - when the ICMG most recently "died," if you want to call it that - the most recent sharp dip in (and eventual complete lack of) all sorts of activity, we had made big plans. We had even gone to Igiss, something most people are afraid to do. We were not going to go along with the restrictions on the IMG id that are inevitable come 4.86. Our main plotline was going to be aiding Bretonia against Gallia - we would have retreated to Bretonia and taken over the Hood (with the approval of the IMG|, the devs, AND Igiss, we figured this wouldn't be a problem, and would provide great roleplay.) Obviously, this is more than a bit contrary to what the IMG is going to be doing come next version, and now that we've been out of the picture for such a long time, anything we had that made us "special" or "different" - deserving of an exemption from any rules such as the ones that require us to go along with the established Guild RP - is gone.

The purpose of this post is basically to see if it's at all possible for us to follow our new plan (which still involves messing with Gallia, though to a much less significant extent) without having to switch off of the IMG id and use independent ones. The new plan essentially consists of losing most of our capital ships and (in-RP) living off of the Barge, which is stationed in whatever system we choose as making enough sense RP-wise while still being OOCly practical. (We're, reasonably, in our view, afraid to reveal more for fear of metagaming, though we'll eagerly speak more about it in a less public means of communication.)

Overall, I guess what we're trying to communicate here is that that any suggestions as to how we can improve on what we've done before, become even better, and get back to the old concepts using new methods are welcome, and we wish to ask if we can return to being "special" again. Diamonds are only made under pressure, after all, and LOOK OVER THERE and now look back again, this post is now diamonds

It's hard enough succeeding with any plan here when you encounter constantly changing decisions from people you think are decisive. And even if you overcome that - there's always someone out there who has bigger friends and whose interests you will end up challenging eventually. Of course they won't let that happen...

I say don't bother and work as IMG|'s leftist elements and indeed watch over some region that's thus-far been neglected.

I say don't bother and work as IMG|'s leftist parts.

If this fails, we use independent IDs and forget the IMG connections. We have no intent to drive this faction into an unnatural path of RP for the mere benefit of equipment which can be easily substituted.

Besides, if Im not mistaken, under the new regulations regarding the Barge, we can keep the Granite even if we go independent (as long as we change out its rep)

Well, from IMG|'s side of things, you're welcome to keep the ID. Another thing you, at the CR's discretion, might suggest is to become their industrial base (IE, ICMG becomes ISEv2). CR gets fair bonuses on Niobium and Copper, and top bonus on Beryllium - you could set up shop in Cambridge and mine there. Just a thought.

Look guys, you know me, cause I stole yuz all at some point - It's BAD for business if within one interest group two or more parts of it have similar goals and operating methods - that causes competition for recruits. I prefer it maximized by dividing up tasks - so far it's IMG| making money and CR blasting stuff to pieces. More or less the same people, maintaining two factions just by using different tagwork for different roles. Where would you fit in?

Can you really think about becoming a part of IMG|?

It is terribly hard (and you will find out yourself once the honeymoon-period is over) for mining factions to survive in a game in which everybody has enough money and mining was nerfed and where there is a negative view towards mining (people think it's worse than the reality is).

I think it would be much better to have a unified Mining Guild, you can gi IMG|ICMG, have everything a faction has and we still can work on maintaining/rebuilding the infrastructure that a mining faction should have.

Trying to build, maintain, rebuild the infrastructure in IMG|, ICMG, T&M seperately just harms us all.

Splitting the player base into 3 factions is not a good idea. Let's better work together... I'd say.
