Well, I've been having some fun recently in roleplaying my Bretonian Privateer, harassing and extorting trade to and from Kusari, making a fair penny at the Emperor's unwilling expense.
However, I've a bit of trouble with people preferring to sit still and die instead of either running or paying.
Apparently it's because of my BAF I.D. I can understand some confusion (and technically the ID doesn't prohibit me demanding cash, only cargo... and it's not 'pirating', it's 'privateering'...), but when I go to the effort to say a hell of a lot more than '3 mil or die', I'd expect some understanding, right?
I mean, the Privateer idea did get fair popular support when I first mentioned it...
Who do you pirate? (privateer), cause if you tried that on my Liberty Corp. Trader, I wouldn't be terribly impressed, Probably lodge an official complaint with the Bretonia government...
Iâll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because itâs flag that I love
And a flag that I trust

I rob those that trade with Kusari. You trade with Kusari, you're aiding their war effort. Complain all ye like, pilot!
We must keep up the good work, Commodore! These traders have been getting fat off our goodwill for far too long. Any practice which aids our war effort, and damages that of the noodlemunchers, must continue.
I would gladly pay, always, in reasonable bounds.
Your tax is reasonable, for example. 1 milion.
But, when i run to Telicaster, i will always rather die (altough it is OORP).
Why? A guy is taxing 4-5 millions for each trader.
I mean, anyone told him how taxing is performed?
It sounds to me that he is setting such high taxes just so he can shoot to people (because most would refuse).
Anyway, my trader met you in space, and ran away while you were fighting a BHG.
But, when you do catch me, i will be forced to pay the tax.
Also, idea, maybe switching to Generic Pirate ID would help?
Because, real Privateers were not an official Army.
Just a thought, you would still have a BAF tag and QCP faction tag.
Also, a suggestion, try taxing people little bit more in Kusari, not Sigmas.
Because, Sigmas are Rheinland territory as much as Kusari territory.
You might want to try Kyushu and NT.
Other then that, QCP RP is on a high level, as well as the QCO.

Well, we pirate in the Sigmas because it is less defended and those same traders are on their way to Kusari, or have just left. It's the perfect place to hit Kusari shipments. If Rheinland suffers too, they should trade with Her Majesty instead.
The problem with Pirate IDs would be similar to the current one. I'd get a lot of bitching. That and the QCP are official members of the BAF, much like many Privateers, like Sir Francis Drake, reached high rank in the Royal Navy. In fact, the British made serious use of privateers in the Age of Sail, and many were official Royal Navy vessels.
Also, there'd be extra trouble with pirate IDs if entering Bretonia proper for resupply. Namely Mercenaries and Bretonians that don't read the forums moaning then firing on BAF vessels. That wouldn't be desirable at all, so we'll be sticking to the BAF ID for the moment, I think.
Yes, i see your point.
Well, i can't see a solution here, except making people to actually read the board.
It's not your fault if they are not aware of you, but it is a good move to announce it here just to make sure.
I would stick to Kusari only traders, that means trading Diamonds, Noblium, Passengers and the rest.
But, if someone is clearly only passing trough Kusari, i don't think it should be pirated by you.
Anyway, it is a great idea to have Privateers on Disco.
Especially in service of the Queen;)
