Hey all

The last couple of months i've been on holidays and have been playing on the server from Australia, the ping is usually pretty high, but doesnt usually go above 360...
Now im back at work in China and so i have managed to get Freelancer working on my ancient laptop.. only the server just now was pinging at 648!!!!

was it laggy? or is it just where i am?

Does anyone else from this part of the world play on the server? curious to know

I think problem is in china... it is realy too far from czech republic (server is in this country). I play from czech and from slovak republic and I have allways ping 20-30... worst ping was 45 (I dont count ping before server crash).

beware... there are screenhunters waiting on your mistake... they need only 1

The server is in the czech republic? cool - i did not know that.

I think china is closer to there than Australia is though? meh.. dunno, the internet here is always kind of "special", probably owing to certain... parties activities

I dunno what that means.. it looks.. scary... actually right now the server is pinging at 380.. still not good, but usable

I play from Brazil and most of the time I play with a 300ms+ ping. Not much to do about it, it's a RTT problem (round trip time) it's the time each package would take to make the trip to and from the server. It's a geographical issue, really. The light speed velocity can only provide a certain amount of ping. There are things that can make that time worse, generally higher traffic peaks and stuff like that. If you connection to the server takes too many hops along the way, there's also a tendency your ping will increase, due to application lags along the way.

Anyway, I don't think from China you will be able to get pings much lower than 200 or even higher.

It's just the way to view the route every packet has to pass each time you play. I's not good to fix anything, I was just curious how many jumps do we have to China.

I know people from Australia have ping above 400ms. But there is nothing I could do about it. It's about 16000km long way there and if there was a direct cable connection, it would take 54ms to the ligh to gat the, + another 54ms to get back, so that's 108ms. But you have to count with a large number of routers which cause further delays on the way, plus the way usually is much longer...
