As the title and poll suggest, what is your opinion? I'm against the rule, but I do understand why the admins create the rule in the first place. Not that this poll will mean much but I'd like to see the general idea of how the community feels towards the rule.

As the leader of a faction that shares its NPC ID with another official faction, I will say what I said when it was originally put into effect;

It's a horrible idea, get rid of it. Official factions can work out the sharing of power quite easily. So long as a rule is added that FR5s be supported by all official factions using that ID, then there is no conflict.

Factions such as LN, BAF, GRN, etc should only have one faction, same for police. However, pirate, corporate, etc factions have no need of this restriction. In many cases, the restriction goes against the faction's roleplay. See; Brigands, which have different groups operating autonomously. Also Outcasts, where there are dozens of different families and syndicates.

I agree with Dab, with the note that the oldest official faction should have a heavier word.

I think that in case a faction wants to become official, the current official faction for that ID should be asked whether they are OK with it or not.

Edit : They shouldn't be the ones who decide in the end, though.

Remove it. Factions that have different RP than other faction with same ID should be official.

Please remove the rule for corporations and criminal groups. It makes no scene to establish a OORP limit to how many 'official' groups there are. It only gives players grudges against each-other and limits creativity on an ID that already has an official faction.

Factions with fundamentally different RP should use different ID or a generic one.

Well, that's kind of assuming that a generic ID is any kind of substitute for the NPC IDs. What would an IMG unofficial faction use? Miner ID? low droprates... Cannot do half the stuff IMG can do such as illegal actions against the competition etc.

Majority power should reside with the oldest official faction, but that unofficial factions should still be able to request FR5s and stuff, through the official faction. That way unofficial factions must keep up relations, hence avoiding "civil wars".

But it's stupid that the official factions word is the be all and end all for everyone with that ID.
