What if we were to get rid of nanobots and shield batteries?

I stopped playing freelancer for a month because everything was too time consuming. You'd mine/ship to get money, to buy the ship, to go fight, and then that fight takes like, 2 hours. I've been in a lot of fights where you just can't seem to kill the other person unless somebody lands a SNAC.

Pros of losing SB's and Nanos:
Shortened fighting time
Less advantage to fighters
Make gunboats more useful
Less people running like idiots all the time as soon as the fight isn't in their favor *looks at the Avengers*
NPC's stop using one nanobot to regenerate their shield, which suddenly keeps your battlerazor from killing the

Cons:
Lot's of Q_Q from new people who rely on sb's and nanos
Make battleships really, really friggin hard to kill

more? I dunno.

I think you meant to put this in the cons section.


But honestly, Freeworlds have no bats and bots.

And it sucks.

I prefer a good lengthy fight, usually determined by who is more skilled. As oppose to fights that barely last a minute.

I agree here,

I'm fine with the current battle length.
and if you can't down someone, well then you can't down someone.
The new set of rules are so awesome, now that you can just leave.


Also if you would apply this idea of yours,
What about even more people shield running?

Nah,devs will have a lot of work in making new balances...removing armors would be a better idea than this one...but i would rather leave it as it is now
Also,by removing bots and batts i would no longer feel that i am playing Freelancer and bots/batts are part of Vanilla so i believe they won't be removed
But that's just my oppinion

Snub fights aren't too long, nor are group fights. Unless people share bots...wouldn't mind that removed. Gunboats aren't useless either. Things are pretty good right now, maybe reduce the number of b/b, but not remove them completely.

Wait, how long do fights last for you guys? The past twenty that I've been in have all been about an hour.

I have noticed Cap on Cap fights tend to take less time than Fighter on Fighter fights. Its probably something to do with most Caps only having enough nanos to restore thier hulls a max of twice with upgrades. Hell, my Gunboat could only just manage once, and I'm pretty sure my fighter can do it a lot more than twice.

It depends...group fights usualy last 30 minutes to one hour,but sometimes they last even longer...
Once i had a one-vs-one fight against some bomber and i snaced him in less than 20 seconds...while on another fight i lost more than a hour to shoot down a single fighter.
