Yes, a pirate can do that as many times as he wants.

There was a sig here, once.

Yep, I normally let him pass though, unless he say's "Ha, you can't pirate me again!" then I break him:D

But seriously, if its EXTREMELY repetitive, like your trying to avoid him and he's tracking you down on purpose, then that's alittle to much. But if you keep using the same route, that's your fault.

Server Rules:
Quote:0.0 Be excellent to one another. Consider the people around you. Keep fair play in mind. It's a game and nothing is gained, or lost, save the experience. Credits can be re-earned. Ammunition replenished. If you become infuriated step away. If you make a mistake apologize. If you wish to remain in system after you die, or after someone has moved away, simply ask.
To my mind, it sounds like the pirate really wanted to have ALL the fun in this game, and leave nothing for the trader!

But the situation might be different than I think:D

I disagree friend....if the trader doesn't possess the common sense to avoid the trade lane they were just pirated in, then I would pirate them again, assuming they aren't a newer player, in which case I would probably let them go, but remind them it was perfectly within my right to pirate them again. A veteran 65 level player, for example, will get hit again because they should know better.

While 0.0 is by far the most importnat rule in my opinion, I don't think it applies to this situation. Part of the fun of being a trader is evading pirates, at least that's how I see it.

One pirate attempt per scanner contact.

If the victim flew out of scanner range and then came back, it's his own fault.

Where does it say that I can only pirate someone once per scanner contact in the rules....as far as I know, I can pirate a trader 40 times in a row, asking for 100k each time, and then blow him up for ish and giggles.

What in the rules stops me from doing that?

Nothing.

The only thing that stops me from doing that is 0.0, but it isn't a sanctionable offense to be a dick.

EDIT: And for the record, I'm not advocating such behaviour, and I wouldn't do that obviously. I'm just saying there is nothing in the rules stopping me from doing so, and 0.0 is really an OOC rule. I don't HAVE to be excellent to anyone in-RP if I don't want to be.

Just don't rp a dumbass of a trader, and you won't encounter such issues, as any captain worth his weight in ish should be able to avoid being pirated twice.

Cannon has stated that doing this is sanctionable:

No, people have been sanctioned for doing this although it all depends on the situation.

"The above" in Cannon's post refers to:
' Wrote:It is against rules, and admins have stated in the past if a trader pays the pirate he can go.If the pirate shoots him after that before he has left the system he will be santioned for it rather harshly. Now after trader leaves system, and decides to come back? then he is again fair game.
So if trader pays then insults you? to bloody bad(not a nice thing to do) If you make another demand,or shoot him it is you that will get sanctioned. It is why i screen every pirate encounter from start to finish with time stamps, including payment. I have had a pirate state he did not ecieve payment/demand more/and kill me. Was over a year ago,but it cost the pirate 500mil from several ships/accounts.

Well, I stand corrected.

That's a little ridiculous in my opinion. Problems like that should be dealt with in-rp, not by some ooc hand-holding by the admins.

It would discourage power-trading and encourage escort usage as well.

In other words, "space is dangerous, good luck" as opposed to "your mean and I'm telling on you".

Regardless, like I said before, it isn't something I would do anyways, so meh.
