Text Problem and Connectivity Issues

Hello there, I installed Freelancer and the mod in my laptop. Here are its specs:

Acer Laptop
IntelR Pentium Dual-Core processor T2060 (1.60 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache)
15.4 WXGA Acer CrystalBrite LCD (16ms)
Intel GMA 950
80GB HDD
1GB DDR

I tried Cannon's directions on how to install it:

But two problems arises when I get to the menu:

One: Text are corrupted as shown here:

Already tried to fix that by following instructions here but to no avail.

Two: I can't connect to any of the servers. It says, "Sorry, connection to the server could not be established. This is usually cause by the server going offline. *bla bla bla* Please try again."

I'm having the text problem as well.. Help

I had the same problem on my netbook. The network has a graphics chip in the same series. I fixed it by installing the Windows XP version of the graphics driver.
