News flash

*Intro music plays and the show cuts to an image of a young standing in a shuttle with a microphone with planet Hamburg visible through the cockpit.*

This is Reporter Jack Huginson reporting from planet Hamburg where some exciting developments have taken place lets jump to some earlier footage shall we.

*The image fades to be replaced with a Guncam of planet Hamburg*

It was just a normal day on Planet Hamburg when suddenly out of nowhere the skies were set ablaze. This generally tumultuous sector has had yet another visit from the invading Libertonian forces. So far a brief but violent skirmish has been fought over the docking ring of planet Hamburg with the Rheinland defenders sitting just outside the mooring ring, easily beating back the scouting libertonian forces.

However those of you thinking that the battle for Hamburg is over have another thing coming. I am now moving with the Rheinland defenders to battle ship Westfalen where the Liberty Navy is preparing for another assault. Now I tried to interview both sides but neither was willing to talk to the press. However one thing is obvious the defenders have their work cut out for them. From my vantage point the attackers outnumber the defenders almost 2 to 1 however the defenders have nearby stations to offer aid.

Both sides stand facing each other down with nothing more than the odd missile between sides. Tension is mounting on both sides as the dice come to their grinding halt; both know there can only be one victor, one survivor. The suspense is maddening as both sides wait for the other to make their opening move, it is only a matter of time now.

*The camera fades out to be replaced by later footage of the reporter in the shuttle. The camera shakes with the din of explosions.*

The battle has begun a small skirmish from Liberty'€™s flank has resulted in the destruction of a liberty gunboat the main battle is only seconds away.

*The shuttle shakes as it is hit by stray oncoming fire as the report scrambles into the pilots seat the camera man close behind.*

The battle has begun and the battleships have made their opening shots I am moving out of the cross fire for safety reasons but coverage will resume shortly.

*The footage cut to a Guncam again*

The battle is in full swing now and started with Rheinland charging head long into a vastly superior force. The battle is tremendous. It looks as if the liberty forces were caught off guard ship after ships is coming down. I have never seen anything like it.

*A fierce and one sided battle rages for the next minute or so. Before cutting to the original scene*

Its over! Despite overwhelming odds and being horribly outnumbered, the Rheinland forces have managed to defend their homeland from the invading force. But it was not all celebrations from the Rheinland side. One of their capital ships has had several hull breaches and lost 20 of its valiant crew members during the battle. And it would be a crime not to mention the brave men and women of the Liberty Navy most of who will never be seen by their loved ones again and all for what, small differences between cultures, petty disagreements between governments and ideologies, disputes over trade routes and asteroid fields, or simple a misadventure into cross communications. Either way the reason I'€™m sure will come as a cold comfort to the friends, family and lovers of the brave soldiers that died here today.

After the battle I managed to secure an interview with Capitan Otto of RNC-Monachium, let'€™s see what he had to say.

*the camera shifts to a guncam of a Rheinland Battleship*

Jack: '€œSo how does it feel that you and your small fleet managed to beat back a major Libertonian fleet with no losses?'€

Otto: '€œI wasn'€™t commanding the fleet I just participated in a defensive operation'€¦ I mean I wasn'€™t'€¦ I thought it would be a lot worse.'€

Jack: '€œHave you seen worse battles captain Otto?'€

Otto: '€œYeah I have?'€

Jack: '€œIs an invasion of this scale commonplace?'€

Otto: '€œIn my opinion attacks of such scale aren'€™t seen much often.'€

Jack: '€œAnd do you feel sympathy for the Libertonians that died today and their no doubt grieving families?'€

Otto: '€œYes I do.'€

*The image shifts back to the original scene*

So it seems that in this weary soldiers eyes that despite the heroism and ability of both sides death is always the only winner on the battlefield.

So after exchanging pleasantries I left him to the mop up operation and wish that would be able to avoid death in the future wether it was dealt by him or to him. But in a galaxy of escalating conflicts between Liberty and Rheinland, new wars between Rheinland and Bretonia coming out of the wet work and the Gallic threat on the horizon, it looks like death is the one thing that looks to remain constant.

This is Jack Huginson signing out.
