Seeing some topics again pointing to the sad realism this game lacks and in order to promote the omnipresent RP on PVP server, how about making the economy bit more....fluid, dynamic, unstable, you name it.
Few ideas :
Commodity demand based on the amount delivered
Randomly generated trade events
Stock market (yeh, lets speculate)
greater involvement of independent traders for certain deals
Yes, im visionary, id love to see them all. Willing to work on either as much as possible, thoughts, ideas, criticism, hate, anything but trolling and senseless + 1 is welcome.
This is very hard to code and to maintain fair, there always will be people who will find loopholes to exploit it like with the barges. If you have idea how it should work and how to code it contact the dev team with any proposition otherwise this will be the 2354373 useless topic about it. Use search check Friday's Idea about it- this is something that could work.

Well, there are ways that do not necessarily involve heavy coding, but more quite alot paperwork to be done. Idea itself can start just off initiative of players, hard to say how some may like it, even if its a test.

Freeworlds run on a different basis, smaller but much better community etc. I am not talking about need for heavy scripting. Player initiatiev can do stuff, why not try?
A semi dynamic economy is already sort of in place. Xoria is always on the look out for new route proposals and stuff gets changed server side sometimes, usually without warning or due press release though. Other than that, scripts that auto adjust prices based on amount delivered? Won't happen. Too much chaos involved. The saying "the freer the market, the freer the people" is a barefaced lie.
Trade missions need FLHook coding = idea for future if anything. So does a stock market. And I don't know what you mean by "greater involvement of independent players", but what I would speculate on is that many factions will be offering incentives for delivering goods to their bases come 4.86 when they can build their own. Should make trading more interesting is for sure.

It's done by FLHook, prices will change dependant on supply and demand.
