I just had a rather unusual (or very usual, I'm not sure) situation where I was killed by Three Mercenaries working on behalf of someone to kill me off on my QCP.

Fair enough, Server RP to PvP n'all. I wasn't *actually* doing anything illegal or nasty at this point - In fact I was quite enjoying RP'ing with some miners trying to get them to mine for Bretonia. Not under pain of death either!

So up along come the Merc's, they collect their bounty by blasting me out the sky. Ba-boom, I'm dead.

But who ordered it? Hmmm....

I can see the RP reasons for *not* telling me...

I think they're all tosh. Surely if you're about to kill someone (both inRP and perhaps in the rules sake?), the person who's about to be killed has the right to know who's ordering the triggers to be fired?

Otherwise, to me, it looks as though it's a merc hiring a merc hiring a merc....

I mean, it's difficult to go check a bounty board when you're actually in-game and being shot at.

What's your guys thoughts?

Please note, I'm not Q_Qing. I lost 3 BAF pilots (my crew:(), and a few hundred thousand for reloads. Oh dear... I need to do more IND powertrading.

Thing is, some bounties specify to keep your mouth shut. How would IMG feel if their competition Kruger/DHC realises they've hired mercenaries that are enemies of Rheinland to blast the enemy mining ships? Certainly won't make IMG more loved around Rheinland.

Plus around Disco no character -ever- dies. So shooting him down is never a guarantee that he'll be as quiet as a grave. Thus I believe bounty contractors have the right to stay anonymous.

If it's that much of a pain to you, just ask oorply over a PM who's hunting you... Not like you can't waste 10 minutes on the forum and find out anyway, so I'm sure they won't mind.

Fun fact, the Bretonian Privateer ID has a red cell to Rogue and Molly tech, so about that pirate transport...

Pirate Transport isn't Rogue/Molly tech, it's open tech. Just like Corsairs can use it (and do in great numbers).

The red cell refers to the factions' weapons. There is no "Rogue Very Heavy Fighter". It's a "Pirate Very Heavy Fighter".

Well, no, I don't think they should -have- to tell you. It's pretty much at their discretion. If you suspect pvp abuse, it only takes a few minutes to check and see if there is an actual bounty and if he actually claimed.

And, Hielor, the Ptrans ain't Rogue technology. It's open use, so I guess that classifies it as civilian or something.

Actually, the QCP bounty is put on the public section of the IMG Bounty Board. That means it is not a secret that IMG wants all these marauders dead.

Except that the Z-line of ships ARE controlled by the rogues/mollies--the barghest, for example, is not open use.

The only reason that nearly anyone can use the ptrans is that the rogues have said it's open use for UNLAWFULs.

Whether the privateers are unlawful is open for debate, I think...

Regarding the OP. No, you don't have a right to know and no I'm not going to tell you who hired me.

If you would like to know as a player, check the boards. If you think they killed you without a bounty, file a report.

Regarding the Ptrans/Ptrain issue, they are Molly/Rogue tech. No IDs that are red cell should be using them. Thing is, I don't think the admins consider them Molly/Rogue tech, I think they are classed as unlawful civilian tech.

Privateers are lawful in Bretonia I would say, but unlawful most anywhere else. I suppose this would class them as Bretonian Lawful, meaning no, they can't use Ptrans.

EDIT: Also thought the title of this thread was a pun on the word "Disco".
