Good day Ladies and Gentleman.

Many factions and groups have shared characters and there is no right to get them back if anyone messes up with them.
(deletion-selling ship/equiptment-move the char on another ID)

So if anything happens you need luck/good contacts.

Why not reduce all the risk to zero - also reduce the work admins will have (if they are in mood to help).

Mostly shared accounts are sponsored by higher ups in the group/faction.

So my idea:
A command to lock shared chars for:
-movechar
-givecash
-deletion
-(equiptment/ship change)

basicly so that the one who sets up the char for usage of several people can lock it - but also can unlock it with a password maybe.

/lockchar <password>

to unlock

/unlockchar <password>

I'm pretty sure that can be done (dunno how much work it would be) - and would do so if I would be able too.

maybe "someone" *smirks* out there reads it and finds the time to add it.

discuss and be fine to each other.

Basically, idea is good. I like. But, I'm not sure about character deletion protection, since you do it when you're still not literally in server..

AFAIK you need to login first to be able to delete any of your char

Great idea! This would really help faction and player. And ship renting might be possible too!

You lock the ship with password, you give account to someone, who won't be able to cash off from ship.

Well. Cash off in convenient way. There are always work arounds, such as selling the ship, equipment and trading it via ingame trade window. But that is easily catchable and might be also prohibited via commands somehow. For example, not allowing to buy anything, which is already coded with help of ID.

Cannon recently showed more capabilities of FLHook. I suppose if he sacrifices time for this, it would become very valuable command.

A nice idea. Would be funny to see how faction organize that. It would makes you feel more in an organisation/faction because the Order for example, don't have endless ship lines which would also mean a logical conclusion to avaible ships of a faction. And it would reduce the costs which are necessary to buy the ships cause you could easily put the credits together so that everyone can use them without throwing too much money away.

To support something like this with extra commands would be nice, too. So more players would tend to play a shared vessel than an own. Thumbs up. Think it would be worth to implement it.

So how does that stop someone who has the password from messing with the accounts? I agree, it would be a nice addition, but it wouldn't prevent all problems.

Even though the rough draft of the idea might be nice, imho this command causes more issues than it fixes. When was the last time you heard of someone messing with faction shared accs? Throughout my time here I've only seen it happen once, and the dude got sanctioned regardless, and the accounts were replaced with a bit of admin help.

If it was a common issue, like... A faction loosing their shared accs every week, then yes, this could've been useful... But why put time in writing a command that might come in handy once a year?

However, restricting equipment change & givecash would cause some issues.

For example:
- Take a shared transport from a trading faction. A member logs it, goes and trades, and in the end, sends the profit to their own bank. What you're proposing would cause an issue here.
- Same applies to pretty much any shared char in a pirate faction, where members use it to pirate and then send the profit to their own bank.
- In case an equipment on a shared ship is destroyed, and it needs quick replacement while there's no one with the lock code around, this would also cause an issue.

And many other examples anyone can come up with.

To sum it up; Imho, this is a good idea, but only in theory. In practice, it'd prove to be more annoying than helpful.

It happened to ICMG recently...in fact...it happened to a number of factions recently.

Only yesterday did I have to warn 2 official factions to move their shareds because somebody gave the codes out saying "take what you want"

ICMG recently lost a CAU8 and temporarily lost a Barge, an Argus and a Zephyr. But we got everything except the CAU8 back thanks to Doc and King <3

It only takes one silly person with access to ruin everybody's fun.
