This time I'm looking for games that are based on sea warfare.

In particular, I'm looking for ones that let you stand on the deck of the ship and fire its/your weaponry at the enemy ship. Then when the two ships close in, you can board the enemy vessel and take the fight to them.

I've heard Rise and Fall: Civilisations at War has this sort of thing, but I'd like to see what else is available.

Pirates of the Burning Sea doesn't count because you're not controlling your avatar while battling the enemy ship with your cannons.

Sid Meier's Pirates is pretty excellent. Might be a little off from what you want, though.

Also Empire: Total War has Naval Battles, but I have not tried it.

Hope that helps!

This game is great! Definitely give it a shot, you've got ship battles, where you control the ship firing cannons etc. And then you've got the boarding battles with sword fights, and tons of other cool features. It's a bit of a sandbox though, and it gets pretty repetitive, but I always find myself coming back to it.
