Am I the only one who finds indies, or groups of people from an 'opposing faction' camped outside the House capital a bit OORP/annoying?
e.g. Rheinland in Manhattan orbit.
To me, and in lore wise, the defences of both factions are huge, sadly, in-game display of said power is 95% down do the fictionalized players.
While I encourage player against player responses, it really kills the dare I say, "reality" from the lore of the server. I mean this is a roleplay over pvp server right?
I can't think of a good way to improve or change this scenario, but can you?
I think though we need to improve the border and capital defences somehow.
You suggest they should drink coffee and discuss matters with words in times of war?
But i agree on borders: They need more defence systems (stationary platforms/battleships or things like that).
Please make a note of stations and planets that have this issue.
While a strong Rheinland battlegroup SHOULD be able to penetrate through Texas, it should get horrifically mauled before it reaches Manhattan (Unless it has no capitals etc) and if it got to Manhattan, it should be dead already.
Idea isn't to stop these sort of piercing raids, since they do happen. The idea is to show that they usually result in total defeat for the raiding force and very little actual damage achieved.

Please no. I think NPC patrols and bases are fine as they are now (for Sirius, that is. Let's not talk about Gallia; Igiss probably thought fighting NPCs with SNACs and dealing with Nova chainfiring bases is fun). I play the game to interact with people. If I want to deal with the same old NPCs all the time, I just fire up Open SP. More bases and defensive stuff isn't going to be a good thing for the mod. It just kills the opportunity to do attacks and raids.

Aye, the only defence IS the player base, though the reliability of being 'there' is never enough.
Its a tough thing to balance between "no, we have thousands of BB's, you can penetrate our defences!" vs "You had no BB's online, leaving us able to penetrate you!"
Online vs offline balance is a git if it involves lore.
Lock certain gates/holes for caps only so retarded caps won't be able to leave their ZOI anymore. At least do it for indies so that factions can still do their RP/Events/whatever

Yeah, like the raids of the RM on Manhattan the raids on Planet Malta from the Corsairs and the raids from the OCs on Crete are a similar situation. I can remember there already was a discussion like this before. I find the raids more OORP than inRP. In terms of gamefun they are always fun imho but they nearly always lack in using RP. And to be honest. Camping enemies near the centre of power of a House or another heavily defended system are annoying, yeah.
Something that could be done, but something that has been discussed more than one time before, is to increase the amount of NPC defend platforms with a lot of damage. Or something like this. It seems to be the only solution in- and OORP to reduce such aggressive actions that make no sence inRP.
