Prior to FP1, my character of Dane was a pretty interesting and cool guy - all he did was cruise around in his mobile house, sing songs, play guitar, and try and talk people out of killing each other.
Since taking over FP1, ive come to the conclusion that rp of said character has become so warped, and my opinions on the zoner's as a whole, that i can see where im at war between the "old" way of the character (which i liked a lot more) and the "new" way, which is...completely different. Those who knew how Dane was in the past know what im talking about.
Truth of it is, I dont run a Freeport the way it should be run. I honestly cant stomach being submissive, kissing butt to factions who are jerks, and then making under the table deals, hoping no one finds out. Id much rather tell everyone to GTFO and blow them up if they refuse. Mostly because i really hate everyone I deal with, and would rather they go away and deal with there own crap, instead of muscling a freeport that doesnt want trouble. cest la vie.
I am on a crusade tho. I want at least one freeport to go back to the way a freeport should be - everyone welcome, everyone respects the peace - rivals can discuss differences, or even hurl insults at each - and its all in good fun. No one wants that, and that makes me both angry and bitter, so, to hell with it - people will do what I say, or i blow you up.
simple as that.
I also dislike the zoner factions. I dislike zoner apathy. and I genuinly dislike most factions attitude toward zoners, its tiring, and again, gives me little reason to want to get along with people.
So yeah. thought id share that. Im a terrible Zoner, and i think ive really stopped caring about trying to be what zoners are supposed to be in this community. I really cba to care anymore.
And since the RP of the character went down the tubes a while ago, i really cba to care about that either.
So if any of you thought my running of FP1 was retarded and dakun'esque - i guess i really cba to care about that anymore either.
your not doin a bad job, your dane is dane he acts the way he does fp1 is his home,he just wants to defend it,i see no problem zoners want people to leave them alone you want the same you just wont be pushed around

Well, Dane, I for one thought you did a fine job as FP1 administrator. If you want to walk away from it then so be it. It's not up to anyone else.
I will say this though, anyone who takes over that role will run into much the same issues. Unless you submit to Bretonia's demands, demands of the many factions that use the base and the like, don't take the job.
We've seen it in the past. FP1 gets a bit cozier with Bretonia, the Sairs attack it.
FP1 gives into the Sairs, Bretonia gets all bent out of shape.
It's a constant tug-of-war that often has to do with the player base involved.

These two statements contradict.
And as for running a freeport the way you want to, you can do so - but not at the border of house space with a house navy breathing down your neck. I reiterate what I already suggested to you: Pack up Freeport One and move it south. My suggestion would be a far corner of Omega 5, maybe some 10K northwest of the Omega 3 hole. Or move the entire current FP1 base south of the ice nebula on the western end of the system, somewhat close to the Cambridge and and Omega 5 hole, so it's out of the way of the lane traffic. Then replace the current station model in Omega 3's lane site with a small police base and turn it into a BPA base to signify Bretonian influence expanding in Omega 3.
In all honesty, the same should be done for the RFP in Omega 7, with Freistadt falling under RFP control and a new IMG asteroid base being established somewhere in the northwest end of the system (at least a good 25K from the lane). That would also remedy the issues with Hessians docking at the IMG base in that system - doing so in the middle of the lane is just WAY too visible. And thirdly, it would allow ALL of the mining factions to launch out of the base in the middle of the lane, which is convenient.

@Dane: Zoner idealist meets real politics. The clash must be a hard one.
At the high time of Dublin madness (before mining was shut down), Hood had an (almost) similar problem that could only be solved by ignoring many stupid actions going on consequently. Dealing with the important things took up a lot of time and was sometimes not good fun. So I can feel your pain.
I don't see a solution other than Aeternus' changes to the complete systems (which you can't influence) or "apathy", or laissez-faire. No one can take your freeport, whatever you do, it stays yours. So whatever any faction wants to do, it will fail. That helps to stay calm, even if bullied by factions, as they are ultimately impotent to force the change.
I'd support finding some larger scale changes *points at AD's solutions*, instead of trying to somehow manage something that could not be sustained in reality (like FP1 in Bret claimed O5, or Freistadt, both thus exposed, both not liked by Houses).
