UPDATE: v1.2

*H damage: 300
S damage: 200
*Refire: 5.00
Range: 1000 m
*Velocity: 1000 m/s
Energy used: 200
*Shot dispersion over distance: 2 m/s

H DPS: 1500
S DPS: 1000
E used/s: 1000
Shot Dispersion at Max Range: 2 m spread

So now it has faster velocity, slower refire, and less spread.

Thoughts?

Not a chance. A large transport isn't going to hit anything with those stats. Contrast your ammendment with the current Type 3s (see below). They're superior in every way. That velocity makes it a terrible anti-snub turret, probably worse than it is currently.

A bomber sticking at 700m+ is not going to be so much as touched by those guns. What you're proposing is Type 2s with a higher refire, worse damage and dispersion. Suppression doesn't work unless you're up against a fighter who has no choice by to go close range. The current 2s and 3s can take care of them already. These turrets should be balanced against bombers, and they're not going to do their job at all in that case.

Type 3 Turret.
H: 1050
S: 525
Refire: 2.00
Range: 1100m
Speed: 800m/s
Energy: 275

Proposed Type 4 Turret.
H damage: 250
S damage: 100
Refire: 8.33
Range: 1000 m
Velocity: 500 m/s
Energy: 200

Type 4s are actually quite usable if you have a smaller transport with a big enough powercore. I use 4 type 4s along with 4 small turrets on a Behemoth after trying every other possible loadout.

That works only with the civilian shield equipped, of course.

With transports and caps using turrets, projectile speed is what matters, not refire rate.

Either I keep the initial concept tame and get gripes, or I suggest uber turret and the pirates troll.

I erred on the side of under-whelming on purpose.

Yes, but what you're suggesting is even worse than the current turret, which for all intents and purposes is already useless.

I don't understand why pirates shouldn't be made to work for their cash.

What I don't get is why transports don't have a diminished version of the flak cannon. They primarily have to contend with fighters - what better way to do it then to drive them off with an area saturation weapon. But yea, transport turrets could do with a bit more variety. Something to consider for 4.86.1 ...

Its becuase every time someone suggests somthing about transports actually being able to survive an attack the pirates complain like small children.
