I have been thinking off this for a while, and i hope you like it.

19 years after the war with the nomads, a new system is discovered, and in the system is the discovery of the decade. In the system, was a Nomad Hyper Gate. Tests showed that it linked to the Milky way. So the four houses had a meeting and decided, they were going to take back Earth.
And joining them, was Edison Trent, with Junko Zane, and King. After the war with the nomads, they had decided together to each go into a stasus pod, so to be awoken when needed in a war of some kind.

Now, 1 year after the discovery of the hyper gate, the four houses were assembling a armada to go through the hyper gate, and take back Earth. The team of Trent, Juni and King were awoken from there stasus pods, and joined the armada through the hyper gate, to the Milky Way.

Basicly, the houses find a hyper gate that leads to the milky way, and decide to take a army through and take back Earth and that area. They go through and find the Coalition have changed alot since they last saw them, and they start fighting the Coalition to take back the Milky Way. But the Coalition is led by a Dom Kavosh without the Coalition realising it. In the end the houses win and take back the Milky Way.
In Multiplayer, it would basicly you could fly around the Sirius Sector and the Milky Way, fighting the Coalition and other new factions in the Milky Way.

What do you guys think?

Impossible, since Earth/Sol doesn't exist anymore. According to the long intro. And yes, I for one consider it canon.

By the way, the scenario you describe is similar to the one in the Crossfire mod. But believe me, Discovery is way better than Crossfire. I've played it before, not only is it non-RP but the story is nearly irrelevant.

I think this would be a great idea....if Microsoft decide to make another freelancer. However, i have heard there may be freelancer mods trying to tell the story of the colonies getting back to the Solar System & fighting the Coalition but i don't know is this true. Also i have heard there's mods telling a story about possible return of Dom Kavosh(i also cannot confirm this).

Earth doesn't get destroyed on the beginning clip, they launch the five sleeper ships into space.

It is debatable whether that intro makes sense or not.

For instance... why didn't the Nomads use that uber-gun on Manhattan? And weren't the Nomads supposedly found dormant by the Rheinlanders? If we go by this, then the aliens were chasing us.

Anyway, if the Coalition was still there, which is also debatable, it would probably arranged be much like the Alliance sleepers were, with different planets under the control of different Coalitiona or Eastern bloc nations, which would probably have fractured, like the Alliance.

I hadn't seen the full intro, i had only seen the bit thats on the freelancer disk, so about the first 3 minutes area, right when the sleeper ships left for the Sirius Sector.

But still, it wouldn't have to go by that, it could maybe just be made into another mod instead, because some mods don't follow much of the proper story, like stargate mods, and mods with things from TV in them. That video is cool by the way.

I marked the sentence that answers yours. Look the video I_m_rdy linked if you don't know what I mean.

@bluntpencil: Of course, it is debatable. I declared my opinion and won't move from it - we had that discussion already in older threads. Anyways, if Sol still existed (and the Coalition as well), it would probably be in the state you describe. There will, as we all know, not be any Freelancer 2 though.

I think we can tell the Freelancer we got is a mix-up of those two intros. We got: No Coalition, no uber Nomad cannon. Nothing. And that's what's left: A pure Alliance Sirius and Nomads with small guns.

Why couldn't the nomads use those big guns to destroy the suns in the house systems? Thus killing all the humans, and then the nomads would be happy and have cake:D, and maybe they would share it with me.....
