So, I've managed to get myself my missile ship after being the worst player in Freelancer with guns, and now I've found something worse than listening to Justin Bieber

CD SPAM

Found a way to more or less counter it with CMs and evasion, but dude wtf are the train ones?
Eye mean, 400m radius blast, you joust, missiles are almost on the other guy, then he shoots and they explode when at 1m from damaging him:shok:
Or worse!, you're just launching them, then when you're getting away, just cuz it's a freaking CD it still damages you when you're freaking 150m from the missiles, wtf?

So I can pretty much manage to make the other guy waste them with fake shootings, evasion and stuff to make him run out of CDs, but dude how do you evade the train ones?
someone told me with Hvy CM but tried to buy it and told me I didn't have cargo space

PS: And pls don't tell me to get guns, I practiced tons with those, I only got 1 kill practicing with someone standing still, and my aiming's so bad I miss legates with snacs, SEVERAL TIMES. I suck so much with them I miss at point blank, and usually only one bullet hits.

I'm actually doing a LOT better with missiles than guns.

Yeah, the CD uberness is heavily linked to paranoia about traders making too much money... of course, this itself stems from the idea most traders want a capital ship, and so they made CD's very powerful for Pirates to help slow the proliferation of caps.

Crazy things paranoia can do.

How to count TCDs? In short, you don't. It'd be an interesting mechanic if they were relatively slow, but accelerated - much in the same way as capital missiles and nova torpedos do. That way, they'd be effective over long ranges to catch fleeing ships, but wouldn't be responsive enough for dogfights.

Currently, the TCD is the 'I win' move in missile fights though. Have fun with that. Try preying on people who use razors.

Judging from the fact that this is in flood, I presume it's trolling.

If not, keep mashing the Q button buddy, your skill will increase in no time.

EDIT: Q is the default button to fire missiles.

...wat? I don't get what "Q" button?
I'm just actually asking wtf do I do against Train CDs, cuz I'm ALWAYS about to beat someone up, then I get CD'd for the whole fight as soon I shot missiles:mellow:

Edit: I actually chainfire the missiles, like Shieldbusters, Cannonball 1 and Cannonball 2, so when shieldbusters pwn him, then the cannonballs leave him at 25% hull, then comes the CD spam. I'm in a marauder

I'm not a trader, I'm in a Marauder, was using a wasupu first but couldn't break fast enough, so bought a heavy fighter, and it's when pvp'ing, not when going around, if it was going around....Wait what kind of pirate pirates fighters?

My advice, if you want to make a missile boat go with a freighter. Give it deb turrets and missiles. Make sure to equip a cau4 or better. In the opening stages use your debs to joust with. Then, once you have his shields pounded down, start spamming missiles. The key is to do it in close and personal. Launch them so close you both get caught in the blast. Your stronger shields and much stronger hull can take it, your opponents can't. Use the same tactic with mines. Drop the nuke close enough that even if he detonates it witha cd he eats the blast. A couple runs like that and he'll either try to run or stop cd'ing your birds. Even if they attempt to go from jousting to slipping and strafing they are likely going to let your first couple missile barrages through, it's a reflex and most do it subconciously.

You aren't going to be an ace with this tactic and you are going to blow yourself to smithereens from time to time. On the other hand, it neutralizes thier cd's and your freighter can take much more of a beating than thier hf can. Missiles are the new shotgun.
