Greetings Disco Members....

I just have a slight question..
... Is a Trader ID Allowed to Smuggle Cardimine?
I have been seeing this around planet Malta in omicron alpha...
By a few traders... And its starting to drive me nuts...
Personally... I just think its traders trying to find a short cut out of
Getting pirated....

More like traders who don't want to be caught by the police.

Traders who are EXTREMELY OORP.

What good smuggler would have a tattoo saying smuggler on it. I really dont know what the point of the smuggler ID is. Unless you are working transporting things (both legal and illegal) for a pirate faction. Anyone who isnt ONLY smuggling contraband is asking for a hard look from every lawful by wearing the smuggler ID.

Quote:Trader ID grants its owner right to trade, escort traders, hunt pirates and terrorists. Trader ID owner cannot participate in any unlawful actions.
Quote:Smuggler ID grants its owner right to trade and escort traders. In addition to that, the Smuggler ID indicated good reputation within the Sirius unlawful factions, and is commonly used to carry smuggled goods to and from pirate bases.

It was already disscussed up here. In my opinion ID description tells everything.

I think the smuggler ID is an example of one of those things that need to be reconsidered. If Jeffery Dahmer had a canabil tattoo then life would have been different for the folks that went home with him.

Or another example how well you think the illegal Mexican would get into America if their transport said illegal passenger ride frequently.

They wouldn't and the ID defeats the whole purpose of smuggleing. I think it should be treated the same as cap weapons were most think cap weapons are free for all I think smuggleing should be for both sides of the fence.

We either have to use common sence or follow the rules all the way. I personally like common sence since it would allow folks greater freedom to build interesting RP.

Scrap the smuggler ID, my to shiny pennies.

The Smuggler ID should be left as is. People's reactions towards the ID need to change... People are taking the ID too literally, assuming that Smuggler ID = Available to be owned by lawfuls. Well, it doesn't. It just suggests you know the unlawful factions a bit. Not necessarily that you are performing illegal activities, just that you are in cahoots with the crims.
In my opinion, the "Smuggler" wording in the ID is just a non-rp description of the character.

To fix the problem: Trader ID ships cannot smuggle goods.
For the Smuggler ID, authorities should assume you are innocent until proven guilty. So if you carry legal goods as a Smuggler, you won't be pushed around. Carry contraband, you might get caught.

Simple as that. If the authorities are too trigger happy, its their fault, not the ID's fault.

Yeah, just enforce the smuggler ID to carry illegal stuff and the trader ID only legal stuff so that it would be a distinction of decision for people.

I don't smuggle anymore, but when I did I never bothered changing my ID.

I see nothing wrong in a Trader carrying the odd dodgy cargo, after all he's in it for the credits, and if you have the odd load of cardamine, or atifacts, then so be it. After all Traders should buy low and sell high. It seems well within the scope of trading to me, I took 'unlawful actions' to mean that, 'Actions'.

Is it action means trade? Maybe, maybe not, I think its buisness. Blowing up other traders or lawfuls is actions, Trading is what a trader does, is it not?

Perhaps I am wrong, but it makes more sense that a trader would get whatever cargo is at hand, having your ship empty is poor buisness.

in a way, its quite easy. - i think a trader can of course carry some smugglers goods, too. - but he must not land at any unlawful base to buy it.

so its not ooRP when a trader picks up artifacts. - its just ooRP when he picks them up at crete. maybe he could pick them up at hawaii or something to carry them to new york ( or try to do so ).

a smuggler on the other hand causes suspicion whenever he is scanned, even if he isn t smuggling. - but he can pick them up at the places where its cheap. - mind, he should only take them to semi-lawful bases like yaren, rochester etc.

in a way, its quite easy then.
