Food Rations. Kyushu doesn't grow anything special or distinguished, which is why Synth Foods is rolling straight over it. You'd probably find more potential for unique food commodities on Juno, considering they've been pumping their produce full of Alien Organisms. Which does... unusual things to the staff. Probably consumers too.

For several centuries, the independent farmers of Kyushu provided the vast majority of the food for planet New Tokyo, although with the invention of Synth Paste by the Liberty corporation, Synth Foods, the Shogunate has issued farming directives in an attempt to further develop the planet. This has resulted in Samura Industries assuming control of Kyushu in 674 A.S., and organising the farmers into workers collectives, growing new genetically engineered rice from its research laboratories the New Tokyo system.

Unfortunately for the farmers, Synth Paste has become increasingly popular amongst all the Kusari youth, especially due to its cheap cost and the ability to change the flavour to anything you desire. The demand for traditional rice products from Kyushu has dropped dramatically, prompting many of the farmers to take up arms, and as a result it is widely regarded as the birthplace of the radical isolationist movement known as the Farmers Alliance.

Well. Rice I guess. Yum.

In before Zelot/Zelot collective shouts that Synthfood is hated by Kusari and that this is the best rice ever.

But, yup, rice. Yaaaaaay.

Organic Rice?

And apparently the food grown by the traditional farmers of Kyushu is very high quality, but young people in Kusari prefer exotic synth tastes instead, putting a lot of them out of business, which has led to the formation of the Farmers Alliance, who are backed by Samura (the main employer of said farmers and producer of said food).

While I agree with jammi, Im fairly sure Kyushu's foodstock is primarily fish. Protein in that.

As such, to differentiate from rations, fish.
Alternatively, you could have fish as a primary, and shellfish as a slightly higher value.

Bland food, other than protiens, could easily be reflected in algae packs. Much like synth, but, say, dried blocks, like those candybars they have..

Rice. Fish was primarily Honshu (way back when) until the market crashed (indirectly leading to the creation of the GMG). Fish is big on Juno now, in modern Sirius. They've been using Alien Organisms as feed though, which has caused widespread illnesses in the staff. Rumours of which Samura are suppressing. It's a really interesting story-arc that Discovery's forgotten about.

I would have to say that rice would be the best bet for that commodity as fish is grown on Junyo since the collapse of the fishing industry on other planets in 600AS.
In before people try and make it sound like there is something happening on Junyo.
Oh wait.:unsure:
Illness is such a funny and incorrect word, the people that eat Junyo fish live longer than you:D
