I don't play multi, I play open SP. I noticed that the new version defaults to a Starflier with admin shield and cheetah thruster, and completely neutral reputation with all factions. I worked out how to edit the shields and thruster away (I could just dump them in space I guess, but I like the LEVEL UP sound).
Now for reputation. I'm not entirely sure how to go about editing this to change the way the default player starts, and I'm also trying to think what the best reputation config is. The player starts as a nobody civilian, so the police and military have no reason to care either way about him (Vanilla default was green rep with Liberty Navy and LPI, right? It's been a long time and I forget), and house criminal factions should shoot him on sight, as they don't want him snooping around their territory, and will be pulling him out of trade lanes. Corporations also have no reason to care. As he's a Libertonian, perhaps the Rheinland police and navy might have a minor negative rep towards him, maybe 2-3 bars below pure neutral. Nomads, Wild and Coalition, of course very hostile. Those are the easy ones.
Now what's the most fitting way for, say, the Gallic Navy and lawful factions to regard a random House civilian? Council would be neutral, I guess. But the Gallic criminal factions? They should be hostile, shouldn't they?
PS: if anyone could tell me which is the correct file to edit, that would save me a lot of trial and error. I've never modded FL before and it took me at least an hour to get the starting equipment changed. Discovery SP seems to pull config data from strange places.
Go to the ioncross website and get the single player editer. Then just move the ioncross files from freelancer into the ioncross editer. It works the same az the server operator, u can edit money, location, reps, ships, power generator, and so on. Also makes it easy to test ships before buying in mp. Also helpful with testing weapon load outs
Thanks, that worked great. Now my problem is, what's the most fitting reputation for a civilian, vis a vis the Gallic Navy, etc? Do they want house civilians entering their space?
