Goodbye Discovery.

I gotta write and post this or it gets easy to come back - and I can't do that.

This post is therefore for me in case I weaken.


Discovery.
I loved you. you guys rock. Mostly.


I ran out of stamina.. my fault really.
Only 4 months as an indy corsair leading a little unknown gang.. what a wimp.

I need to care to care-bear.
If I can't care-bear I'm not there.
Can a Corsair truly care-bear?
If not - should we care?

Answer: no apparently not. pirateninja for the win...



The good:

The Centinelas: Nic, Kriss, Pepe, Viz, Alecs and my first friend here Synts most of all.
I had so much fun it made rl come second for a lot of the time. Dangerously fun.

Joey and TBH: Joey you define the excellence this server strives for. The admins need to create an Angel-like team that dedicates itself to improving the goodwill and interest on this server. You will lead it mate. Frankly TBH and TOP already come so close.

The Benitez - especially Tiberio! You guys leave large footprints that we indies struggle to walk in.

Admins: We never met much but I admire your effort so incredibly.

Torneo was fun.. I'm proud of it. Someone please keep that up and expand it to gunboats.


The bad:

Sigh.. really.... Towards the end it was a bit of hate overload and the last kick in the teeth did it.
I'm not built for it. I will head to Hello Kitty Island adventure I guess.

Too much hate?
Too much restriction on fantasy for the sake of uniformity.
Rules should not be batons wielded threateningly against those that are true to their characters, regardless of the stretch in official perceptions. They should protect, not discourage.
But I get the paradox with that.. I thought I figured the key.. yet here I am.

Official factions (Looking at you V): Be teachers before caretakers. Be shepherds before watchdogs. That library has dust on the shelves - it's OK to let people bring in new books.
Discovery depends on vital new blood as much as the older wisdom

I realized in the end that theres stuff I want to do here I can never do, and the regret of that made me start to get bitter towards my closest friends, cos I have no other place to vent. Melodrama eh?

Everybody on the server:
Those Noobs and Lolwhuts ARE the new role-players.. The old crowd is gone and you need to adapt.

Lastly: Guys all it takes is a little love. Otherwise it stops being a game.

Motto for the conclusion:

To Role-play a belligerent character requires a great amount of sensitivity and restraint. Any relaxation in that care can only lead to frustration that leads to role-play being broken, and players causing harm.
When in doubt: Care-bear. Anything else is vanity in the way.
I officially resigned the second I realized I had forgotten this piece of my own advice.



BTW: I wrote a new players guide to RP on discovery once. I stand by every word.
