You know, those of us who are gamers sort of chuckle mildly at the flashing light warning at the start of all games, since it's part of the standard epilepsy thing nowadays.

And that is one reason we have the policy on here that thou shalt not post massively flashing things, because it can end up affecting people.

On Thursday afternoon while I was at work, I noticed that the florescent bulb above the entry to our bathroom at work was acting up - flashing on and off. Since it's one that we can't actually turn off - it's at the top of the stairs as well, and is tied in to our emergency / night light system - I just took the cover off.

Oops.

I was looking up at the light at the same time, and messed with the bulbs trying to get them to quit flashing.

Double oops.

Two really, really bright lights flashing at about 20 times per second about 1 foot from my eyes.

My wife called it a 'light induced migraine'. Turns out that there is also a non-lethal weapon for police and military that does the same thing. Those of us who are NOT subject to epilepsy can still end up having seizures, headaches, and nausea from this sort of stuff - and there have even been helicopter and plane crashes because of it.

Ain't that special?

Worst headache I've had in years. I used to get caffeine induced migraines from drinking too much Mountain Dew. Those REALLY sucked. This one - I spent the rest of that afternoon on the floor under my desk, and then wore my sunglasses at work all day yesterday. Styling!

Boss thought I was pulling his leg - and he put the bulb back in, and then had the same thing happen to him. Dumbass...

[color=#FFFFFF]Agmen - discovering 80 year old interrogation techniques at the office. That said I am not sensitive to flashing light at all, though I have friends who literally cry in pain

Yes, they're a royal pain in the rear. I took up welding a few years ago and the masks weren't too good, ended up losing my sight for a day and had the worst headaches I've ever had in my life. After that incident I reported it to my GP and the college had all its equipment confiscated and replaced. No incidents since. Thank God.

Light induced headaches? Like getting your head kicked in while hungover from a marathon of a Battleshots with vodka-jellies.

People, don't try to think you're hard by staring into flickering lights, its only going to end up with you being stuck on the floor.
