I've never flown anything in the battleship class, and am wanting to learn more about their handling behaviors, so looking to buy something in this range. I dont expect to do much, mostly PVM with some opportunistic PVP. Looking for something that is in the middle of the range, with decent arcs and core, that I can undock and find trouble pretty easily. Recommendations?

Liberty Dreadnought for the easy trouble.

Osiris/Liberty Dreadnought

Requires skill but is capable of doing a lot. Handling is of light battleships obviously. You will get lots of pew.

RM Turtle

n00b friendly, heavy battleship handling and general tactic: charge in, tank and fire back. You get used to fire on Jormugands & Liberty caps mostly.

Ranseur. In my experience almost all BS's are big, slow and chunky no matter what, and I find myself favouring a large powercore and heavy armor over anything else. Plus OC have plenty of capship missions and easy farming of credit cards in Eta. Don't know if that has been changed, so don't hold me to it.

Valor is good too, but it is absolutely huge, and the forward gun is somewhat difficult to use, for me at least.

Can't go wrong with a Liberty Dread either, as its got a medium powercore and a fairly small profile, but back when I had one there were no capship missions for LN, and so there were no decent PVE-opportunities. Might have been changed too.

Liberty Dreadnought for medium, balanced ship and lulzy environment with lulzy players.

Simply a lot of fun.

firstliy make money for cau 7 or 8.(good for you if you can afford it;). Then you did half the way. Cuz its a must for any capship class. Then open up Ion cross or go to Discovery of discovery server. Based on your fav faction, choose its Battleship. And try it. Also ask for the gun setup befor buying guns. Here on froum.
Then enjoy!

Hessian BS
Bunter BS
Libby BS

Those are all good for "all round". If you're a tanker get a RM BS, OC Heavy BS, or GRN Valor.

Liberty dreadnought has 40k more armor, while Bretonian battleship has 1 more light turret. Libby is a bit thinner, while Bret is a bit shorter.

Hessian BS can fire just 1 of her 3 heavy turrets forward + FG. Size and stats are similar to the 2 above. However, she can't strafe up and down as good as the dread and Dunkirk, due to her height.

Osiris is very small and agile BS, with not so low armor, but she doesn't pack a punch.

If I wanted a BS for PvP, I would choose the Liberty dreadnought. You'll have a lot of battles with her and you will survive most, sometimes even win, if you don't meet a RM gank squad. If you want to farm nommies, Ossie is the best. Maybe Mako, but she's a bit weak. If you like good RP, buy a Dunkirk (13th is exiled from Bretonia, so RP is now as in the good ol' days). If you want to lol around, buy a Jormugand.

That's probably all from me. Hope it helped you! :)

P.S. A good CAU is not needed for small and agile BSs. CAU 5 is enough. You can solo almost any large BS with it and pewn bombers if you use TS + TZ + flaks and secondaries at the same time. And it wasn't all from me.

Since the most common enemy BS for a Jorm are turtles or Legates that heavy turrets facing forward aren`t needed that much. If you don`t kite against those in a jorm you`ll lose. Just activate turretsteer, watch back, use strafe and let cerbs rain on your enemies.

One big plus the Jorm has, is it`s small front. Fighting in Asteroid fields gives a Jorm a big advantage since the bigger enemy caps will get stuck easier. The 40 m/s (correct me if I`m wrong) backwards thrust helps you to easily put back and get the distance you need. ~2k is perfect.

If you`re flying a jorm and have an asteroid field near, head in it. Helped me a lot.

Please don`t get a Libby Dread Ursus, you ganking single snubs on your lolorca already is enough of your part in the lolberty ganking game, and there are already enough Libby Dreads hunting little Greyhounds, don`t become a part of it.

lol

What's wrong with hunting lolgreyhounds in Liberty? It's not like they can't lolthrust away.

Liberty guarantees some good action.
