Yeah one of my polls since I got into an argument with some mates, about which of these was best as kids.

Personally, LEGO, more maneagable on the detail but DEMONIC when stepped on bare footed.
Mecanno always had a piece missing.
But I adore K'NEX since I spent Christmas building the Roller Coaster and Big Ball factory that was taller than me! I was 12 at the time I think, excellent day for me:D Took up the whole parlour... K'NEX was great for large projects.

So yeah, you guys?

Lego all the way. I remember trying to build star wars like four legged walkers. And yes, using an electric motor. I never succeeded.

Frankly, never heard of the other ones. But Lego definitely played an important role in my childhood. I had tons of them, oh, I remember building a fictional starship: it was my goal to include as many forward firing 'cannons' as possible, and everything needed to be perfectly axially symmetric. xD I think it's still around somewhere, waiting to be buried in dust...

Half the people here don't know what Mecanno is.

LEGO will always be the favourite, but I began to like Mecanno though a few years back.

Lincoln Logs!

I was going to say Erector Set, since that's what I used to have, but apparently that name is what the Meccano sets are sold under here in the U.S. now (with the exception that the old style Erector Set I grew up with had flanges on the girders).

So apparently Meccano ...
