for a long time I play Freelancer with enthusiasm on your server.
On your server was always something going on and people were always kind and fair, really nice atmosphere.
Before about 3-4 months I was at the Corsairs while active, mostly under the nick "TekknoOst" (with BS: Osiris) or "luxXs" (with Eagle). We were a large fleet with the same dignity of the Outcasts. It was well balanced and the battles were always Spectaculär.
So far, so good ...
2 days ago I started to gamble again [work-related pause]. With full of anticipation I saw a new version is available. Installed, started --> lost all chars -_-
I started with a new char, not a problem. Look out for old people who know me well known in the hope that someone will lend me money. But i can not find anyone that i know. Then I collected in 8 - 10 hours laboriously the money needed for an Eagle. Someone helped me and gave me half a million of which I am grateful to him.
On the way to gamma little unusual was going on. In Gamma, I wanted to earn some money, no opponent present. But I can understand because Laggs, performance on the server this time. After a long search I found the Omicron Eta JH presented no longer exists, Corsairs were no longer there. What is it for example with the "CNS - Crete Navy Seals" or "HAF - Hispania Armored Forces"?
In my opinion, too much has changed. Friday night the server was always full, 200 people. Today we were in contrast to only about 150 people. I think that I'm not the only one thinks of when the "World's Edge", the "Corsair Sector" and part of the "Nomad sector" died out.
Therefore, only a little Corsairs are available.
In this update there are human beings a lot of work and time and I think it's good that there are people who even know what to do there to make the game even better.
But I like it currently does not. Omicron Gamma was the home of many, including me.

And if we consider most of the local players as capwhores...

Personally I assume that the lag & stability issues especially at the beginning of .86 have caused a lot of people to lose interest in this particular server. So why bother if there are lots of other interesting games out there?

Yes, the server's not as crowded as it used to be. Since the devs carried on with their motto of 'moar' regarding system count the average player per system has thinned out remarkably. But this is only one aspect, there's many others why people start losing interest.

I've heard rumors that the devs will be trimming the system count for 4.87
