Wise indeed was the man who said "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.". One could also be considered wise to think of those who loved that woman, say her family and relations, those who had grown up with her and consider her to be family. As you probably have no idea I am talking about the English Language, I personally have known her for bordering on 18 years and have come to love the old girl, her mood swings and strange rules, her inconsistencies that bring me great delight and many interesting stories to tell to my friends.

However, there are those who do not share my love for this strange and interesting woman, they spurn her intricacies and abuse her badly. Even those who should know better, who know how delicate she can be, who have grown up with her name on their lips and speak about her with every breath they take can be cruel to her.

Atrocities against her are being committed on a daily basis on this very forum, here is one example, now I'm not out to name any names but take a look at this:

Well,maybe you've heard something about me,but if you haven't yet,let me introduce you myself.

Briefly,I'm a mass murderer,a famous forger,who has forged the identities of many person.Over a few years i assumed the identities of many people,managed to forge the cash cheques for a total of $2.5 billion.

These are taken from threads in the communications channel. "But Gytrash", I hear you say, "Transmissions can become garbled, it adds a degree of realism to have some errors." I am swift to reply with the following rebuttal "If your entire post is an error then you have no excuse.". There is no real reason why you cannot enlist the aid of one of your fellow forum-goers with proofreading. It isn't that hard and I'm sure that there are people out there who would be happy to assist you with error-checking your work. Hell if you can't find anyone else to do it then you can always contact me on Skype, correcting a post of a few hundred words will probably take all of two minutes.

I am aware that English may not be your first language, I'm aware that you may also be American and thus suffering difficulties coming to terms with the fact that the language you speak is the language of a country you rejected, despite these things there is still no excuse. I am willing to help, I'm sure that you all have at least one person that you know in some way shape or form who can speak fluent English and who cares about sentence structure and spelling.

Please for the love of God just ask people for help, don't abuse this fine woman known as English more than you already have, bring your troubled posts to me and I will be more than happy to assist you in cleansing the wrongs you have committed against her virtues of Grammar and Spelling.

Now I am also aware that some of you have characters that speak in a particular accent or have intelligence impairments, that's a stylistic choice and therefore falls under the guidelines of poetry rather than common sense. There is, however, no reason to have a character for whom English is not a language that they have been speaking from birth. Every single NPC in Freelancer speaks English, Every single NPC in the preceding game Starlancer also spoke English, hell even the Coalition pilots spoke perfect English apart from the heavy Russian accents.

I suppose that I have gone off and rambled here and there and perhaps have not made that much sense overall but if anything I say will get through to you tonight let it be this; Please, for the love of whatever deity, energy construct, technology, creature or cosmic horror you worship, if English is not your primary language or you do not possess the best grammatical skills, get a pre-reader for your posts.

My most humble apologies my good sir. However, this is something of a frustration-fuelled rant driven by seeing poor English humiliated on the forums. Were it not 1:30 AM I would likely have included that most essential of virtues but alas, it was not meant to be.

I do acquiesce that Syntax is a subtler virtue, and one included within the grander scheme of Grammar. It is a higher mastery, in my opinion.

I, am not a native english speaker, and the english classes I had in school, suck a huge potato... I thank God for subtitled cartoons instead...

Now I think that judging someone by the level he can speak a foreign language is racism...

It is indeed sad to see the Old Woman being butchered, but, in most cases, the butchering is not intended.
Not the butcher is the guilty one... You love the woman, I love it too, but we force others to love her, so
it is not really their fault... It is at a point since they play a game that requires the language... but... gah..

The real reason is an awful and boring politic-social discussion that I am not willing to start. And after all, who
put the old woman to stick her tail everywhere?:P


I tend to ignore the mistakes if they are done on a game forum... I try to think positive, maybe they simply don't speak that language very well, but they try... and if I can understand what they mean, it is enough for me..



But, I still get your point, and I sustain it... Still, in the same time I sustain the guilty too, it is not 100% their fault..
