I as well as my friends have been discussing this topic for some time now and I wanted to let the community voice their opinion on this:
POBs, while a great addition to the Discovery mod, have made the server unstable. Tenths of people are wasting hours of ingame time assaulting solars with little to no RP to spite the players, who have constructed them. The lag caused by such assaults on a daily level prevents any chance for players to engage in a territorial battle like the ones between LN and RM or OC and Corsairs just to name a couple.
The problem here is that PoBs cannot be made invoulnerable because the attackers would whine and they cannot be made easier to kill, otherwise the owners will whine.
So the only fair solution would be to remove them altogeather along with any and all items constructed on them.
That is a radical solution, but frankly I myself do not remember the last time when the server was stable enough during peak times, suddenly spazzing out because of a battle in Omega 3, for example.
I have been in skype calls with the owners of a few bases, which get attacked on a regular bases. If the will be destroyed, they plan to rebuild them, so there is no reason to think such problems will solve themselves.
I am not against PoBs, I am not against the items you create or the group effort needed in order to do so, but perhaps, just perhaps, this addition to the mod was not needed. The software is unstable enough as it is without this.

The server stability is the only issue I see. I can make a valid case to remove all guns as well too. But in this case here I find the server stability to be an issue and I would believe that a solution less extreme an be found.
It's true that POB have opened the door to a lot of ooRP rages, sieges which lack RP...and a great catalyst for server instability and crashes
I agree it is time consuming, but we're all here to consume our time in playing disco, and, when you make or attack a base, it's assumed that you are aware of the time that you need to waste and put into such an effort, so if you think that ,,time consuming" is a problem or you think it isn't worth it, you simply don't make or siege a base...there will be many other who will...So, in my opinion, i see no problem regarding the consumption of personal time regarding bases
But, few things that I find dissapointing, is like I said, it opens the door to a lot of ooRP raging.People despising other people, and guess what, the bases are in the middle of this rages.
I also saw a number of people re-engaging, in order to siege, or defend a base
And the server lag and crashes whenever a siege comes out...uugh...it's ugly!
Now...what would be the rewards?Well, for a base owner...there would be just a few items that...in the long way...have no great utility or are actually useless.While for the attackers...well...just a filled satisfaction that they made the base owners annoyed by taking out their base

This is because you likely do not understand what it is you're talking about. Not trying to insult or flame ya, just sayin'.

It is. That is why JZ are still alive. It is horribly broken, once you clear all the RP boundaries, but such things these days are done through skype, not ingame actions.
