Tonight by total accident I bump into some very cool people on TF2, we have a laugh, I'm drunk they're drunk and they coax me onto LoL.
They ask "What style of gameplay you like?" I'm medic most of the time in TF2, so, support I guess. They like that so thankfully they start in beginner AI mode and I do alright considering I've never played LoL. 0/0/16 on... god what is that character's name?... the women that give mana and health healing, I can't recall. Either way, I somewhat impress some experienced players, they kick it up and go intermediate.
I then do 0/0/19 on intermediate, I haven't grasped the QWEDF hotkeys yet, I still click them but I'm getting there and they like it and so do I. While I do want to kill a few actual players, its nice to know my role early on. These players seem to be pretty experienced and they say "We've found our pocket medic", I'd like to think its going to be good, but I know its not. I'm going to be bearing the blame when things hit the fan, but, meh. I'm support, I like that role.
So aye, I've finally broken into LoL, and it seems to be fine... so far. I know I'm in for a very rough ride though.

Soraka or Sona:P
Also, Support is mostly the role that gets the Assist, but if things hit the fan , the support is usually not the one blamed unless you mess up majorly. Most of the blame goes to either the AD Carry (The one usually Laning with the Support) or the AP Carry (The Mid Laner).
I play myself, got level 30 on EU-West ,and am currently leveling an account on the North American Server. I love the game and play it quite regularly. Feel free to send a PM or so if you have questions about anything.
Also, there are alot more Hotkeys than QWERDF , but it's something you learn over time while you play.
Ahh, Soraka rings a bell, nice to know I won't be a noise magnet then.
I'm on EU West as CrazyWelshy, no games against actual players yet, I'm still very nervous about that.
Yeah, I noticed more hotkeys but I'm A: Full of rum, B: Tired, and C: Newbie to this entire style of gameplay, I'd like to think my experience as Medic in TF2 and Support role in Super Monday Night Combat as helpful to get in the support mindset. Oh and medium tanks in World of Tanks:D
I do like the art style, but I can see it wearing off quick. Just a lot to take in so quickly to be competitive.
Yea, if you just start the game it can be a real brain buster, alot of the competitive style in the Early Account level bracket comes from people Smurfing. (Level 30 Players making new accounts just to have fun). So the playing against Bots feature is a really nice thing to get you into the game. I wish they had it when i started playing. Dominion is also a Nice game mode to get into the Game, it is against Players, but it means far less to people than the actual 5v5 Matches you see in competitions.
Personally i could never play the support role because it is too boring for me , but having the mindset for it from other games is probably a good thing regarding passive play and assisting rather then playing aggressive and going for every bit you can get.
In Game on EU-W im Obzcure , feel free to drop a friend request. Also, yes it's probably not the best thing to play while having some Alcohol in your system.:P
I like playing supports too.
If you're up for supports, try also Alistar, Karma, Sona, Nidalee, Blitzcrank and Lulu. Karma might be a bit difficult to play at start, but it's fun. I also like playing Janna. :3
Also Shen, while he's tank, might save your ass sometimes, so I guess he can work as support.
