Some of the ship classes have "Specials" category for ships that dont fit in proper context.

I'm going to split the MkI fighters off into their own "Specials" category unless somebody can give me a good reason not to.

You mean like this?? Don't. All the Mk 1 fighters fit in nicely in the LF/HF/VHF categories - putting them in the special/unique ships category wouldn't make much sense, as they're for ships that don't fit into any of the types of fighters above. You'd also lose the ability to see which ship class the Mk 1 fighter you're looking at under that header belongs to at a glance.

tl;dr: I'd say personally say no to this. Mk 1 fighters are LFs/HFs/VHFs too. The Special/Unique ships header is for ships that are "Special/Unique", not low-powered LFs/HFs/VHFs.

EDIT: What would the advantage of this be, by the way? I can't immediately see one myself.

EDIT2: This is what talk pages are for, by the way. I probably wouldn't have noticed your post if I didn't have email notifications enabled for any new posts in the Wiki subforum. I do, however, regularily lurk the recent changes page, like many other regular contributors to the Wiki.

Make them dedicated Escorts and Interceptors.

MkII ships are the "regular" ships for disco. The MkI ships are not at all comparable to the MkII ships for any kind of playability. But since they are all lumped together into the same table, new players dont really see them as different. By separating the MkI ships into their own category (and hopefully moving their sell points to guard systems) they will stand out as different from the regular ships.

TL;DR making it obvious to noobs DO NOT BUY THESE SHIPS

Until they exist as such in Mod mechanics, that wouldn't be appropriate.

I vote no.

Superfluous. The ship pages are not hiding any statistics which might trick a player into buying a worse ship. Nothing is stopping a reader from bringing up two ships in tabs and having a side-by-side comparison.

There was a sig here, once.

Why do we even bother keeping them in the mod?

Because they don't cause trouble. Because they can be bought by new players. Because they are vanilla ships. Because deleting them would cause troubles.
