Just now a rather large outcast fleet, consisting of bombers/fighters and a destroyer attacked Fort Bush. They mostly came on their own, and didn't seem to be completely organized. (the destroyer and pirate below however were in the same area of the system, blocking tradelanes just before going to fort bush together)
During the battle which followed, a trader was in the area, and one of the pirates turned and demanded he pay 500k or die. (All with the destroyer there), suffice to say, the trader was killed almost right away.
Is this allowed? My interpretation is that it isn't but what if the destroyer wasn't taking part in all this, had no affiliation with the pirate and was just there?
Code:
6.19 Pirates and terrorists have a right to deal as much damage as they see fit before or after demanding money from a trader ship, but killing trader ship before demanding money or cargo is not allowed. Attacking traders or demanding cargo is not allowed for cruisers and battleships, unless cruisers and battleship belong to Terrorist ID or Phantom ID owner.
Iâll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because itâs flag that I love
And a flag that I trust
He was pirated fair and square.
I thought it was a bit off for the pirate to do that to him though. The trader
wasnt doing anything but watching and calling for LSF / LPI help.
Fairly well ambushed, I think.

Sounds like it. Let that be a lesson: don't stick around and watch battles, 'cause you never know who might win! And, of course, it distracts you...
Can you have a Destroyer/Cruiser with you when you go pirating, to take out enemy military crafts/NPC's/tradelanes so that the pirate in the fighter/bomber/gunboat can concentrate solely on pirating trading vessels?

NO. That counts as interfering. Not allowed.
' Wrote:If the trader felt he couldn't act as he normally would because of the threat of the cruiser, then there is an issue.
If the cruiser was protecting the pirate that killed the trader from other forces while the trader was being killed, it's a rather large issue.
True. It seems as though the cruiser did nothing, though.
If the cruiser was grouped with pirate, he is part of it, and broke a major rule. Sanction with screen's.
If not grouped and fired even 1 shot, also bad.
But if trader, and pirate fought it out , and no desi interferance. That is ok.
Even if pirate was blown to hell by trader, the desi could not come to it's aid, or it would be breaking a rule.
huh... back when I had a pirate character we'd often work in small groups - myself and usually one other in a gunboat, someone in a VHF or larger capship, and someone in a transport to pick up loot when the enemy failed to pay up.
The other warships never participated in the pirating, though they were grouped - they were around to fight off the "liberty capwhores" if they showed up to spoil our fun =P
EDIT:
It never was very successful though. The fighter/capship pilots got bored because they couldnt get any decent money out of the pirating, and unless we attracted enough attention over systems chat for lawfuls to show up they really didnt get to do much.
That, and I was always demanding more rum than credits.
