If you pirated a trader (he paid you) and you let him go, for example this takes place in New York, if trader goes to Colorado then to New Tokyo, and he comes back to New York from Colorado 1 hour after you pirated, can you pirate the same trader you pirated?
Oh yes, if a trader came back along the same lane 10 min later I'd pirate him again. Of course I try to be reasonable with my prices. Often when this happens trader complains and I usually say something along of the lines of "Well you only purchased a one-way ticket. If you want a return or day ticket it'll be costing more".
It makes for good fun the RP that plays out afterwards. You can have long discussions on the type of "ticket" they want to buy. If their currently carrying something fairly worthless like Ba, you'd normally not charge much, but if they want day passes and might return with more expensive goods you need to take that into consideration.
So yes I say you can pirate them again later, but I always encourage reasonable pirating. None of the all too familiar 2milordia for a 2K transport hauling water. If you wanna pirate folks agin, make it worthwhile RP

If I was charged that and my cargo wasn't worth that much, I wouldn't pay.
Always remember the person on the other end is a player too and repeat piracy gets tiresome fast. He mill stop playing, Syswall or refuse the demand. Also, the pirate is a parasite: he isnt there to kill his host, just bleed
him. Spread the damage.
Lastly, if the lawfuls are that lazy in your sector,( or youre too lazy to report to them, that he could stick around,) dont trade there.
/fm [LN] theyres a pirate at the cali gate. Figured ya'll ought to know.
Im penniless, rotten in a fight, and have authority issues, but im back!
Well rules say you can pirate him once when he comes in your scanner range, theoretically if he comes back even in couple of minutes later he is piratable again. RP and stuff have nothing to do with the rules, it is your own thing.
I had the case when one that I pirated paid me, then send merc after me about 1-2 min later, 4-5 min later I snaced the merc and went to pirate him again10 min later,he qqed and got killed and filled report, as result he got warning. In general don't be ass to the people and they would play along.

I tend to only buy trade ships that can fight or flee to deal with stuff like this. I'm happy to cough up on return trips if the RP is good (some of my best moments have been when I'm staring down a multi-ship blockade), which is what I play on this server for anyway.
But the lone bomber that spews a one liner before opening up? He'll learn quick that a well-flown Percheron is a nasty opponent.
Also, this goes both ways. The pirates are people too and nobody should be out to drive anyone out of the game. Make it fun for them too, as even successful piracy can get boring with "1mil" "okay, move along"

It doesn't matter how much time the same trader will return to the same place.Depends on what kind of RP you have.
I use to pirate the same traders everytime I saw him/her with some stuff in his/her cargo. No matter where and how much time later.
