Stop battleships and cruisers from operating in house capital systems.

Pros
Means less cap ganks from both unlawfuls and cops.
Caps are where they should be, defending the borders.
No lolwtfbbq outcast dreads in NY (or LN in Berlin etc).

Cons
Doesn't exactly make the most RP sense

There are probably more pros and cons, but they're for you to point out.

Begin!

Well, no Caps on their *own* Core House systems, otherwise you'd get into irrational situations.

Even for that, it greatly depends on the Nation's democratic status.
I mean, the presence of capital ships on people's backyards would be a great source of frustration for citizens of a Republic, but something to be expected on oligarchies.
So to make this concept coherent you'd have to make it awesomely complicated.

I just don't know. I have an unlawful AND operate in Liberty sometimes and haven't been in a gank fest since 2011 when I was flyin' LSF against RNC, RM, and others in Texas. 20v1.

I get my job done as an unlawful and live to tell about it. And I've failed to see many ganks on my way through. I think the ones who speak about ganks are probably one in five experience in Liberty.

Just had a thought. Bases would be nigh on untouchable without caps to blast em. Maybe an exception could be made.

Anyone stopped to think how much of a nightmare it would be to move caps around if you couldn't enter your core system?

Exactly. Moreover, what if we really restrict docking for caps to shipyards only, and most of them are in capital systems?

Limiting caps is a noble idea, but seeing as this mod is rather cap and pvp-oriented won't happen.

It is quite easy to move through Liberty without entering NY.
I don't know about other houses though.

And don't complain about having to use a jump hole. The LN has its guard system accessible via jump hole.

Edit:

@ Pavel, for the purposes of this hypothetical, we will allow caps to dock on any type of station, as they moor with stations, rather than docking with them. But wait! A big ship would still be vulnerable outside a station! No, by mooring with the station, it gains access to the ridiculous amount of power that its reactor supplies and so gains a huge boost to shield power (or the station shield extends over the top of the ship).

like the title says crazy idea...

capital ships are a permanent feature of disco and as that there is in my eyes no reason to move them out of the core houses

and since things in disco are more on bombers and capitals all is fine in my eyes
so life with the circumstances that are at discovery

I have another idea - make several hour training in a snubcraft enough for the newbie to be effective on the battlefield when under proper command, like it is with caps. Make it extremely hard for the pro to win against 2+ newbies that completed their basic training, like it is with caps.

You'll instantly see the greater change in capsConfusednubs ratio.

I'm not just talking about Colorado, California and Texas. What if you want to go to Alaska? You've first got to get though to Colorado, then fly though the LPI Guard system, some empty system, then the LSF Guard system before you actually get there. If you wanted to go from Texas to Colorado you'd have to go though California and Ontario to Colorado. You're just going to annoy a lot of people, and some people won't bother moving thier ship from its current system, or will just go though New York anyway and either take the fine for rule break or just fly under the plain so they don't get found out and reported.

Last I checked we were trying to lower the work load on the admins, not increase it on reports about something that really won't make any difference.

Also, Virginia has a gate.
