For hundreds of years the Corsairs and Outcasts have had a bitter hatred for each other, from the moment the Corsairs abandoned the Hispania to the present day have these two factions despised each other, regardless of their common heritage.
But this is not always the case. There is a few in each new generation, who ignore their culture's hatred for their vicious brethren and try and make peace, or co-exist. Sometimes this peaceful view which is seen as a betrayal of their own kind and for all they stand against, spawns kindness or rarely, love.
One such case of love between a Corsair and an Outcast was that of the Outcast Cedro Ramirez and the Corsair Ria Salvatora. They met during a brief ceasefire on Freeport 9, secretly starting a relationship in an attempt to extract information from each other. It soon blossomed into something more, their love became so strong and irresistible that they forgot their hatred for each other and were privately married by a trustworthy old friend of Cedro who had made a career as a priest of some sort with the Zoners.
As the relationship progressed further they gave birth to two children, twins actually, named Alvaro and Castor Ramirez. Their lives were full of bliss but it couldn't last. Soon enough, the cease fire ended and with their representive factions pressuring them to return to the new front line, Omicron Eta they saw no other choice than to split up. After a heart breaking moment, they bid farewell for the last time and set course to their homes.
Cedro brought Alvaro back home to Malta and Ria took care of Castor who got raised on Crete. Cedro explained to the Outcasts about his absence, saying that he got a Zoner pregnant, and took the child to raise as his own. Ria however said that she got married to a Trader who happened to have Corsair relatives, thus she was given Ramirez as her new surname.
Once they arrived at the battle scene they were shocked to find out that they could no longer kill their enemy mercilessly, what if the ship they were firing upon happened to be their loved one? And so, Cedro and Ria were both pulled off from the front, being deemed ineffective by their superiors and by a cruel twist of fate both were killed on the journey home. At least one can hope that they both meet up in the afterlife, together at last

This is Alvaro Ramirez, Pilot of the "Perdido".Lately, near the end of my patrols, i have started to wonder about my family, not about Mayte my half brother, or about Uncle Carlitos and Auntie Pia, but about my real parents. They say my mother was a Zoner women who father had a relationship with when on Freeport 9, but i look Hispanic through and through. I feel lost, perhaps i will search through the Maltan Information Database, maybe my Mother had some Hispanic relatives who i can track down.
