I mean, come on we're in the 3000s here. I feel like a 21st century astronaut. Sure, zero gravity makes it hard to eat solids on your ship. But who wants paste stains on their fancy pilot seats? And I don't care if you have Golden Mango Kalamari paste, IT'S STILL PASTE!
So, if you have any good eats you know of in Sirius, then please let me know.

We need the Soylent Corporation back! And the Blue Sun Corporation (Firefly mega food corp--with black ops)!
Soylent Yellow, Brown, Green and Blue...mmmm.
I always thought the Harvesters should be processing the raw materials for the Soylent line at Synth Foods.
"It's Zoners! Soylent Green is Zoooooonerrrrrs!"
Seriously though, PRICE is what would make synthpaste sell. Look at McDOnalds and the ilk today compared to fresh fruit, vegetables and good quality. We pick cheap over good.
McDonald's uses taste additives that condition people to a certain sense when they eat. Every McDonald's tastes the same (less you go overseas).
Synth Foods would be the "Dollar Store" of foods and many people would be accustomed to it or dependent on its low prices.
I like you, Russian Special Forces man, I think I can help you out. Please, look here here. I think we might be able to work something out. If not, then contact me personally, and then we might be able to work something else out...

Synth Paste tastes and burns like napalm, I don't eat it. Fortunately, there are plenty of fast breeding, meaty creatures roaming sirius (Lobsters, Bison, Giant space chickens, Nomads, etc) to keep me perfectly satisfied without any synth anything whatsoever. Let the AFK and LWB smash synth foods into paste, I'll do fine feeding off anything unlucky enough to run across me.
' Wrote:The pastes can taste like anything you want and are so easy to make etc. Hence why they are so popular. Go to Kusari if you want to escape the paste:P
Kusari? What the?
Bretonia's the one who doesn't like Synth Foods, because they don't want what happened to Rheinland and Kusari to happen to them. That's why Cambridge Research Facility is working on something or something like that. (It's a rumour on Planet Cambridge.)

um... wrong.
The farmer's alliance, in kusari, is fighting synth foods because everyone is starting to use synth paste instead of purchasing the 'real' food the farmers sell.
That, and the fact that synth foods is a foreign company (and nobody in kusari likes foreigners), means that synth paste is probably not very common in kusari.
EDIT:
And by the way, I'm rather fond of the double bacon cheeseburger paste.

Now, that's not entirely true.
There is a large movement of Kishiro and Blood Dragon/Golden Chrysanthemum backed politicians that are looking to bring more foreign influence into Kusari. On the other hand, there is also the traditional Samura and Hogosha backed politicians who are looking to keep foreigners out. It is a split culture, and that is why the FA exist.
The FA seeks to force all foreign culture out of Kusari. It wishes to return Kusari to it's prior isolation. All foreign influences are a threat to this, and that also forces them into conflict with the GC, who wish to overhaul the Kusari political structure completely. The Hogosha and Samura support us only because we fit into their goals to keep constant the status quo. If not for that, we would not have any support.
And not everyone eats Synth Paste.
Kusari produces Rice on Kyushu, which is known as the healthiest food in Sirius, and Seafood on Junyo, which is in rather high demand in Liberty. Samura is at the forefront of Fertilizer production, and uses these to support independent farmers on Kyushu. They also seek to compete with Synth Foods by using Alien Organisms in a way much like Terraforming to stimulate the wildlife in the sea environment on Junyo to bolster it's productivity.
Bretonia is relatively unpoisoned by the filth that is Synth Foods. Most of the farmers there raise vegetable products as is English tradition. Most of the Non-Paste food comes from here.
And everyone forgets the LWB (I was once guilty of that too). Stuttgart isn't completely owned by Synth Foods (even though they have permanently changed the climate and soil conditions on the planet), and the few farmers that remain continue to raise Wheat products, making the name "Breadbasket of Rheinland" still semi-applicable to the Planet.
Don't you love the Angry Farmer's Movement?
