Code of space combat.
Ancient GMG cache of knowledge.

"Here is the key to success. Remember that a great battle, which is won over nothing, will be less of a victory, than a small fight, in which with victory, decisive harvest is gained. Do not start a battle over nothing. If a battle is over nothing, do not start it." - Gas Miners Guild texts; Isamu Shizamu; "Codes of space combat"

"Spending in excess of two billion credits on a capital ship does not mean you will be able to 'pwn noobs'. If you cannot 'pwn noobs' do not spend two billion credits. If you need to spend two billion credits to 'pwn noobs', you may be a 'noob'" - Unknown writings.

If enemy is invincible, do not meet him in battle. Sometimes the enemy does not have to be met in battle and fought to be weakened. If you cannot eliminate an enemy, weaken him. Weakened enemy will be easy to eliminate. That is the way to eliminate the invincible. Gas Miners Guild texts; hidden cache; Codes of space combat

Weakened enemy is not a weak enemy. Do not fight enemy which is weakened, fight enemy which is weak. Weakened enemy will fight with prejudice, like a harmed beast, which fights for his life, while the weak enemy will not fight. Weakened enemy does not have resources to sustain himself, while weak enemy is the crushed enemy. To make weakened enemy weak wise admiral must cut enemies from flow of supplies. Only then weakened enemy will be weak and only then the admiral will be wise. - Gas Miners Guild texts; Isamu Shizamu; "Codes of space combat"

Fish must be quick to pull out, fishing itself must be patient. Do not cast your rod when sun sets. Strike quick, but know when its time to retreat. A prey that has been in the ocean until sun sets will attract more predators to claim it. Have no competition, know retreat. When a small gain is reached it is time to take harvest home, for the home will not see the harvest if it is not returned. That is the way to guerilla warfare. Kyoto notes; Codes of space combat

A fast strike can shock the enemy. A powerful strike can cripple the enemy. Know well how and when to strike so that the enemy will be shocked and crippled. Then victory will be reached. Gas Miners Guild texts; basics of battle; Codes of space combat

If bait is not enough, the fish will not come. If there is too much of bait, the fish will be wasted. Use of resources must be balanced in war likewise. Firepower does not guarantee success. Know well how to balance your war effort, for great ships are most assailable in battle against assault craft. Do not take two sacks of bait to catch the fish. If a fish needs two sacks of bait to be caught, do not take them. If you need to two sacks of bait to catch a fish, you are a bad fisherman. Gas Miners Guild texts; Akira Shikubu; Codes of space combat

Know well that strategic position can change battle pace. An open field brings advantage to great ships, the assault ships shall cripple." Gas Miners Guild texts; hidden cache; Codes of space combat

If a blow is too strong, it will not succeed, for strong blows can be avoided with ease. The enemy must be first stunned to prevent him from fleeing. Only then a strong blow can be launched. Only then that blow will truly be successful. - Gas Miners Guild texts; Isamu Shizamu; "Codes of space combat"

Ambush is art in war. A well placed ambush can push an enemy into the uncomfortable. It is the way to eliminate the invincible. If an ambush is discovered and promptly surrounded, it will repay the intended mischief with interest. Know well, who is the ambushed one. - Gas Miners Guild texts; Isamu Shizamu; "Codes of space combat"

"There are only exempt cases when in a time of surprising the enemy. Know when the time is right and the enemy will be surprised. With surprise the enemy will be weakened, with weakened enemy your defeat is not an exempt case" - Gas Miners Guild texts; Kuznetsov Gas Miner Captain, Senior Guild Member; "Codes of space combat"

Do not loose your sharpness, do not prolong a fight. If war continues for too long it will dull your soldier and your admirals sense. Supplies will be low if war is not quick. Quick war is instrumental, in prolonged war there will be no winners. Never get involved in prolonged war or your supplies will run out. If your supplies will run out, you will be weakened. Weakened can win both a fight and a war, but will never truly be victorious. - Gas Miners Guild texts; Isamu Shizamu; "Codes of space combat"

Diplomats will help soldiers on brink war in delaying battle so that wise admiral can gather enough and prepare his soldiers. Soldiers will help diplomats in open war, for in open war only soldiers can prevent diplomats from the unprepared. Gas Miners Guild texts; Akira Shikubu; Codes of space combat

It is well that you listen to your soldiers suggestions, like wise admiral should, but you must also filter the bad ones! Akira Shikubu's lecture to John Adams; Codes of space combat

Glenn picks up the copy of "Codes of Space Combat" that he bought on his last trip to Ames Research Station, and begins to read.

Hmm.... interesting....

After reading for a bit, Glenn puts the book down.

No wonder those soulless Kusari can't win a fight. They're to busy talking nonsense like this!

Glenn puts the book into his office's disposal slot, and returns to his copy of "The Unstoppable Truth"

The GMG will not take responsibility for your actions. These actions show you are not willing to assistance us and instead break us down Such actions as this are completely unacceptable and I see these action as your leave of the Gas Miners Guild. We enjoyed your stay with us, I believe this is an unnecessary lost. Good livings to your sir.

Glenn turns on his desktop terminal and checks his message. One, from the GMG catches his eye.

Huh? I've never even been to a GMG base... they must have sent this to the wrong person.

Glenn deletes the message and moves on the the next one, labled "Male Enhancement"

Christopher Thorn read over the GMG codes of combat transmission on his comm screen with approval.

As a veteran of the last stretch of the 80 years war he knew exactly what the author was saying. The guild had defeated entire fleets of battleships and cruisers with nothing larger than a fighter, and in doing so crippled the entire rheinland military machine.

"Good advice boys... good advice."

He shut off the screen and turned back to piloting the Tenacity.

As a War Veteran (RP wise) Personally, i find this statement insulting, however still, partly true. "Firepower does not guarantee sucess" - What in the Sweet Gods is that supposed to mean? Are you Serious? Firepower is Everything, Firepower is Life, without it you are weak and adrift, and when you are weak and adrift, you get exploited and killed in times like this, there are only exempt cases when in a time of surprising the enemy.

Christopher Thorn turned to look at the new message on the screen, and promptly replied.

"You may be a war veteran, son, but you obviously werent a veteran of the GMG-rheinland war. GMG forces were few in number, with not so much as a single 'capital ship' to their name - yet they managed to destroy the entire rheinland fleet, battleships and all. It's about tactics, not firepower. Use the terrain and piloting skills to your advantage, not superweapons."

//Another thing to add, Would be that we do not use Caps for fun, we use them for a Unique RP Opportunity, and occasionally for Events if possible and defending our systems.

Watsas, while searching through the personal belongings of a recently departed <strike>victim</strike> aquantince, discovers a copy of the Code of space combat.

"Is this some kind of cookbook?"

Watsas reads on.

"Bah! I could have told you half this stuff years ago. Seems the meat is finally catching up."

Figuring that suggesting others to read this would be easier then trying to explain to them, chucks it in a large bin of loot amongst a heap of weapons, cardimine, random memhanical bits, and Nomad eggs.

All that begins must end.

Ahh, the 80 Years War! An inspiration to be sure! Even if it was soulless Kusari on one side, and bloody Krauts on the other, it proves that the little guy can win with enough determination and effort.
