To whom it may concern,

This is Samuel J. Knight, former ensign of the Liberty Navy, as far as I'm concerned, and I reveal myself too you. Months ago I stopped reporting in. This was due to my capture at the hands of some pirates hidden on Manhattan. As such, I have no doubt that I am in trouble here, and it is only a matter of time before an officer recognizes me.

So I come before you with a few requests, depending on my position and how you see fit to deal with me.

1. I wish to report back to active duty, of course with any disciplinary action taken for my unauthorized "leave."

2. However, if you see it necessary, this is actually turning myself in for court-martial on the grounds of desertion, however you may see it.

3. Finally, if you no longer wish to deal with the likes of me, I request a note of discharge, so that I may pursue other lines of work since the navy is closed to me.

I apologize again for my unauthorized absence. If givien the chance, I will not allow such an absence to occur again. I do not want an opportunity to serve be taken from me due to an event out of my power. I have not given up on the Navy, and I hope you will not give up on me.
