The first of its kind, the Thrudgelmir was intended as a massive bombing platform. A wing of these ships could in theory reduce a large sized city to rumble. It's new generation of plasma engines allow him a very decent manoeuvrability, and its firepower is unmatched by most bomber type of ship. The mounted sensor allows the best torpedoe targetting system available. Its only drawback is its immense frame, very easy to target.

The ship is a 3 men crewed: a pilot and two gunners located in the back of the ship.
It's weaponnery consists, among other things, of a quad torpedo launcher and twin mine launchers.

Due to the very high production cost of the Thrudgelmir, there are only a very small number of these in service within the Rheinland Military.

Doesn't it look a bit too fragile?

What about placing 4 engines (the horizontal ones in the wings) in the back?

I also don't like the Titan-like fins on the wings too much.

Otherwise quite interesting... would be fun if it had enough power for 2 SNs at once and a GB agility.

does look a bit fragile yes. I took my inspiration from WW2 bomber (think, Flying Fortress for instance). They looked huge, massive and powerful, yet fragile. The vertical fins are from the same concept idea too.

the model is lovely - however, 4 torpedo tubes? - any bomber that CAN fire 2 SNs at ones will be too strong. - so what will the other 3 tubes be used for - maybe just more flexibility? - a train CD, a nova, a SN and a mosquito for smaller target CDs?

the time we introduce bombers that can fire two SNs at ones, we can aswell take any capital ship out of the game - if the caps are not doubled in strength.

Leave it with two torp mounts, but the ability to fire 2 at once.

Don't let it mount CDs though, so that it can't be relied upon solo.

the greatest limitation of a solo bomber is that it takes time to recharge the energy to fire a second SN shot - in that time, the shields of the truely big warships can replenish enough ( or recharge when depleted ) - so the bomber is forced to at least fight in a team.

if a bomber can fire 2 at once - it can keep the shields of a capship down much easier. ( i know a bomber can currently mount a razor and a SN for this purpose - but a razor is "only" 20k damage - and not 137k )

i do strongly suggest not to create such ships. ( not about the model, but about the suggested stats ) - we all do know that capital ships are weak as they are. - we should not make it worse to create a ship that can basicly solo them - if we are true to RP and teamplay, - we should rather make sure that a bomber needs a team, rather than be able to take down any warship it wants - alone.

currently, i can deplete the shields of a cruiser ... all by myself in a single bomber. - when i mount a razor, i can even solo a cruiser. - this is not right, it doesn t feel right - it just makes me gloat over the poor capital ship. - so unless such a bomber has really the mobility of a battlecruiser and an energy regeneration of a starflier, it ll make a mess out of the balance ( thats of course exaggerated - but thats how i feel when i see such concepts )

if you want something vastly different - give it the ability to mount and fire 4 gunboat foreward cannons. - ( since it d have so much energy then - give it only 2 lvl5 turret mounts as secondary weapons ) that way, you d have a specialized and not overpowered ship. such guns would be much easier to hit with - and due to the fact that they are 4, could keep a shield down and do damage still - while not doing what.... 4x 137.000 damage.

anyway - such a ship should be dead meat ( literally ) against defensive fire. - it should be as agile as a cruiser at most - so they cannot be used solo.

and yes, i do fear the anti-cap and "cap-whore-yelling" part of the community a little.

Well, if this ship is painfully slow enough, it might be interesting. Perhaps giving it low armour for its size, its only strength being its guns.

You tell. Actually, I'm doing this because I find the poor rhienlanders have a terribly ugly bomber -_-
Stats should probably better be decided by communisty - as of myself, I know nothing of that! I'm just here for the esthetic hehe

It is very nice, although Mjolnir may be right about the fins.
