Early Founding

The Freikorps were a Volunteer/Paramilitary organization that had sprung up around Rheinland as soldiers returned from the Eighty Years War (589-668 A.S.) Many Rheinland veterans felt disconnected from civilian life, and joined the Freikorps in search of stability within a military structure, Others, angry at their sudden, apparently inexplicable defeat, joined up in an effort to regain some honour and put down Rebel uprisings within Rheinland.

Popular Revolution
On Von Rohe's Day, 672 A.S., Daumann mining stations in Dresden were seized and locked down by miners in a widespread general strike. The Freikorps could not openly attack these strikes as they were led by civilians and not criminals. As these strikes began to pop up all over Rheinland The Friekorps was forced to act and openly dubbed them as "A Knife in Rheinlands back for some credits in Daumann's hands". This was mainly to reduce their public support and to imply that the Bundschuh revolutionaries that were supplying the rebels were doing it for their own gain and not for the greater good of Rheinland.
The Bundschuh movement had the Rheinland officials in a tight economical vice forcing them to give in and publicly recognise The Bundschuh movement this eventually created the Federal Republic of Rheinland and forced the Kaiser to step down. This relationship between the Daumann corporations and the Bundschuh Movement led the Freikorps to "Revoke all protection" over their bases and pilots. As the Daumann industries began to single out and expel rebel members the passion of the Freikorps turned against the Red Hessians allowing the bridge between Daumann and The Freikorps to be rebuilt.

Growth and the Reichstag

Many Hardcore Imperialists joined the Freikorps cause, even more imperialist representatives openly funded them and relied on support from them to quell the rising mobs after the eventual expulsion of the Bundschuh from the parliament. When the Bundschuh were eventually revoked their official status they turned to criminal and terrorist activities making them a prime target, enemy and rival of the Freikorps.

The Nomad War

During The Nomad War the Freikorps force consisted of outdated fighter and bomber vessels, most of which had been repaired multiple times and hardly ever represented their original condition, due to their general lack of modern weaponry and popular support the nomad forces did not see them as a threat. It wasn't until after the nomad invasion had become obvious to the Freikorps that they began the "Protect your homeland! Enlist in the Freikorps" propaganda movement, this heavily bolstered their forces with thousands of civilian pilots
and ultimately made them worthy of the nomads attention. The Freikorps fought bravely and near to extinction against the Rheinland Military, all hope was lost until Freelancer Edison Trent stuck a major blow to the nomads power source effectively ending the nomad war and allowing the steady rebuild of the Freikorps organisation.

Present Day
After the removal of the immediate nomad threat Anselm began the long process of rebuilding The Freikorps, with many members dead or wishing to remain part of the Rheinland Military, The Freikorps "devolved" into a state similar to its beginning . A Paramilitary organization backed by volunteer support, funded mostly by wealthy imperialists.
Due to recent activities within the Freikorps many Rheinland officials have dubbed them "Mercenaries" a name they are not proud of but are not ready to deny.

The Nomad War section could possibly do with some ammendment - Nomad infection didn't occur through artifacts. Parasites were passed directly between people, infecting commanders and figures of importance. Artifacts were considered to be harmless trinkets until after the war, so I'm not sure why your HQ would have banned interaction with them.

The actual number of infected soldiers and pilots would have actually been very low. Nomads would have targetted wing leaders and admirals in order to control large numbers of regular humans instead. A plausible explanation for having very few infectees could be that the Nomads considered the Freikorps to be too insignificant to divert resources from infesting admiralty leaders and senior politicians.

I'd like to remind you, while you're technically able to use Rheinland snubs, by the Rheinland law you still have to request it from authorities.

Perfect!
I will change this later I will throw something in there about RM wiping out a large portion of FK members due to commands from infected personnel.

I 100% agree with you, however i am obtaining as much feedback as possible before contacting the faction leaders.

I have been intouch with BHG in the past and i am hoping that they will be able to honour an agreement made a very long time ago with a previous leader.

I'd love to see this idea return. Just like when the Freikorps first popped up you've got my full support and I guess that of the VWA too. You guys are pretty much the counterpart of the Bundschuh.

Minor curiousity: Why are the Freikorps less friendly with Daumann than the other Rheinlandic Corporations?

Edit: If you're going the route of "Mercenaries", I would advise swapping the ID and IFFs; that way, you'd be eligible for bounty-hunting and the credit rewards it might bright, which is what I'd assume would be one of the primary motivations for Freikorps members.

Otherwise, whatever happens, I'm eagerly looking foreward to seeing some activity from this group.
