Another Favor to Ask of Pirates...

To sum it up: Stay in Character

I'm not sure what else to say, so I'll just give an example of what I mean:

There are two traders:
-Tom
-Tiffany
(T names -> Trader)

There are three pirates:
-Paul
-Peter
-Patrick
(P names -> Pirate)

Before we start..
-Tom, Paul, and Peter are friends with each other.
-Paul, Peter, and Patrick are all grouped together.

The situation...
Tom and Tiffany are doing the Diamond/Niobium route that consists almost entirely of Jump Holes (you know what it is). Tom comes across the trio of pirates. Paul and Peter know that the trader is Tom, so they let him go without any demands. Patrick, however, knows that they should stop the trader from bringing goods to their mortal enemy, so he demands that the cargo be dropped. Tom asks Paul and Peter to kill Patrick so he doesn't have to pay anything. They do so, and Patrick is pissed.

Next, Tiffany comes along. Tiffany does -not- know anyone here. She is stopped and they demand 3 million credits from her. She pays, and moves on.

Now, repeat that over and over again.

Do you see a problem here? When you go OORP just so your friends can make money? Don't. Treat them as you would any stranger... with hostility (unless your character's personality is different). When they go "C'mon man, it's ________", tell them that it's a RP server and they should act accordingly.

So, to reiterate the point of this post - STAY IN CHARACTER.

If the trader isn't corsair ID ed or corsair tagged or officially belongs to one of corsair factions, he's up for piracy.
He can only eat some space if he complains.

Or if it's a junker named tenacity that brings you food and gold in exchange for artifacts, amirite?

but of course...

there were 3 of us in TS pirating in NY. 2 GBs and a bomber. We start pirating a train and generally harrassing him. We knew he wouldn't pay so we just kept him CDed and his shields gone. We're all laughing and another guy in TS pipes up "hey! that's me!"

So he got shown the power of the SuperNova Antimatter Canon. I refunded him his cash later, which was ooRP but the human thing to do.

But yeah, don't let someone pass just cause you know them. Tax em double if you know they're going to RP their way out. (A good trader will be able to negotiate anyway, so double isn't a huge deal)

Ya dont mix RP and dont pirate becasue your friends. Pirate them anyways.

I remeber once finnaly making it to Omega 49 in my Whale hostile to Corsairs. Ya Not fun.
Im heading back to Dublin carrying Duterium. First I see 13Cent over here in his secret corsair bomber pirate me 3 mill i pay him no big deal since I had lots at the time. Then then I jump to Dublin and see Fpsdoug's UoG bomber and had to pay him 2mill for tax/bots and bats since corsairs ate up my hull/shield in 49.
All of us are on teamspeak.

If they try to OORP there way out of not paying. Tax them even more for being OORP.
