Hello, I have unusual problem - here is a thing:
I've bought few games recently, all 3 in boxes (not by steam)
but now I'm forced instal and use steam to play those games...
but I do not wanna, I hate to be forced to use somethinng what I do not need,
a specially that as fra I know all steam-based games requires sustainable access to internet.

The most I care on two of them:
Don't Starve and Orc Must Die (1)

Do You have/had similar problem?

Did it mention needing Steam to play on the box?

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

as for not using steam...^^
it will say on the box...

and you don't need internet connection once everything is installed, just login then switch to offline mode.

I need internet connection in each time I start the game?
If yes - then it will be useless for me - since usualy I play such games when
I do not have any access...
Even if not - it's another useless application with has to be run while I play,
not mention that nobody knows what data it collects.

no, you don't need internet connection each time. just whilst its being installed.
also its very lightweight and wont hog your resources...or it doesn't with my system at any rate.

As for the data it collects...well I heard this theory that steam collects all your credit card details (even when you don't give them to steam) and then they buy things using your account and can land you in massive debt and they have never got in trouble for it -sarcasm.

Yeah, everyone hates that you need Steam to play games these days, but there's not really anyways around it...

Made a thread about this a while back, look below.

*peeks in*
If you've already searched high and low for options to disable steam with that game, and have tried uninstalling steam + games (backing up your saves of course) and trying again, the other option is kinda sketch.
Look up on Google pirated steam games and how they disabled steam, and tweak their instructions for your particular boxed game. Worked for legit issues I was having (but watch out for any .exe files they ask to download, as they're 50/50 trojans)

Steam isn't Origin, and Valve (Steam) is starting to support Linux. Therefore, Steam isn't the worst thing in the world

Note that the offline mode is a bit buggy.
The only thing I hate about steam is the way it tries to update itself. Far too slow for me.

It's pretty annoying, Steamplay is a great way to con you out of money if you don't like a game.

Steam's like the google of the PC gaming industry.

Steam is annoying at first, until you get used to it.

There is no way to remove Steam and if a game says that you need Steam (they usually do at the back with 4pt texts), you need it for your activation. As said above, you don't need constant connection and when you need to re-install, Steam is relatively useful as you don't need to use your CDs to install / or play again.

What is bad with Steam is, once you buy a game, it is tied to your account and you cannot sell / transfer it. I have two steam accounts because of a problem happened waaaaaay back in HL 2 times, and I cannot transfer some of my games to my real account, which means I need to use them both if I wanna play.

Oh, and in some countries, Steam sometimes have issues with DNS (like OpenDNS).

The best gaming system out there is GOG.com's. You buy, you download, it never asks to be online, never asks to have an in-between program, never wants to use DRM etc.
