Admiral,

*he Salutes, before forcing a smile, it does not reach his eyes however, which still glisten from a message moments earlier*

I should apologise. We where good friends in our wing, i haven't spoke with you in years. So many good times was had. with.. the guys... *he staggers back, holding his head. After a moment, he steps up again* I'm sorry, just so many people i knew, lost in action one way or another... *he shakes his head, trying to rid it of the images. He stops, looking at the Camera again* You remember our wing, all the friends we have lost... we are the last two... for now at least. *he pauses, sighing* Get back to me Ian. Things are looking sour for me, and i need an old friend, but until then,

Tony Wolf,
Lieutenant,
Bretonian Armed Forces

Ian opens the message and sees an old squadron mate not looking that well into the camera. He notiched the salute and wonders why Tony follows regulations all the sudden, he never did in the past.

Wolf ye old sodd, How are ye? Ye not looking that well old friend. Do i remember the old days? Fighting those yellys? How can i ever forget those days.He thinks for a minute and you can see some old wounds are surfacing again. Ye bet ye ass i remember those of our old squadron, the best bunch i ever flew with. I remember Bill, Toby, crazy Sarah and her victory rolls trough the hangardeck, He laughs with a tear in his eye. Claerence, Vicky, Danny and do you remember Pete? That stuborn lunatic never had any respect for the chain of command.... He grins sadly.. Yea we are the last of the 358th, we are the old man now.

But tell me old friend why these sour thoughts? You scare me a bit lad. You ain't gone do something stupid eh? You should come visit me on the Suffolk soon, i have the perfect way to forget......

Ian.

Admiral,

*He smiles, properly smiles at the mention of the old crew. He points at the Camera before continuing*

I also seem to remember you had a problem with orders too Driscoll! But your right, the 358th was the best wing in the Forces. The current generation really doesn't match up to us. Think of it, if we had been tasked with taking down the Gallics, including the damned King himself, we would have got it done, and home in time for tea! If you needed something done, you ALWAYS, called the 358th. None finer.
*he sighs, his face dropping once again*
But the reason i look so glum, the reason i contacted you... *he hits a button on the panel in front of him* Take a look at that. Doc's report from the infirmary. *he sighs once more, before filling his lungs* I'm dying Ian. I'm getting old, moving on. The stress of day to day life, getting shot at constantly. When you reach my age, that being 51 you nosy SOB, you don't put up with much of this without kicking the bucket. The Images of them being taken down, one by one run through my head daily... *he stops suddenly, turning away and taking a deep breath, as he turns back, the tears are running down his cheeks, but he doesn't let it enter his voice* I cant even tell my family whats going on. Come to the Suffolk, no, i cant. Too many missions resulted in us returning there, it would only make things worse for me. Ian, i don't have long left, the Doc said so himself, i just wanted to make sure that all was okay with you. But i must insist, don't you dare pull me out of service. You know i never wanted to die idle whilst my countrymen where out there fighting. This... this is kind of my way of reaching, well the others are gone, so just you, but reaching out, saying goodbye to my friends. I can't bear to tell my family, and i debated telling you. Probably force command to pull me off the lines, at which point they'd have to pull me off you... What i'm trying to say, is i sent this, to thank you. You became a great pilot to fly beside, and an even greater friend.

For what could be the Last time Ian, take care Old Friend, the winds where merciless to the 358th...

Tony Wolf,
Lieutenant,
Bretonian Armed Forces

[color=#A9A9A9]Ian thinks for a minute after reading message. I know you would never sit down Tony, never give up and at all never watch while does Gallic bastards attack our home. So i will not give the order to pull you out of service. But..... Iam not sure what to say now old friend. He looks away from the camera a second to grab a photo. He shows them to the Photo of the 358th squadron "SYOTOS" Is painted with a black pencil above the heads of the smiling pilots. Just be assured your family will be taken care off whatever the costs. Let me read you a poem i find very inspiring lad.

Quote:Flight is freedom in its purest form,
To dance with the clouds which follow a storm;

To roll and glide, to wheel and spin,
To feel the joy that swells within;

To leave Leeds with its troubles and fly,
And know the warmth of a clear spring sky;

Then back to Leeds at the end of a day,
Released from the tensions which melted away.

Should my end come while I am in flight,
Whether brightest day or darkest night;

Spare me your pity and shrug off the pain,
Secure in the knowledge that I'd do it again;

For each of us is created to die,
And within me I know,
I was born to fly.

Fair Winds and Following Seas old friend.... He wipes away a tear as he knows he would never see Tony again. It was a honour to have flown with you.

Ian.
