HISTORY
Ever since the Republic of Liberty took the system of Pennsylvania under it's protection, it was considered and extra burden for the LPI officials. With the history of rather low crime rate over the years, the LPI began to decrease it's presence in the system, drawing it's forces to much more needed areas such as California, New York and Colorado. However, as the demand for silver ore on the market grew, and Junker Congress effectively monopolizing the Silver Ore minig in Humbolt, more and more independent miners began ariving to Pennsylvania. With this new influx of miners and haulers, came a new influx of criminals and pirates praying on the hard working men and women. Even with this new threat presenting itself, the LPI was still undermanned and reluctant to send out additional forces into Pennsylvania.
In 818. AS the Government of the Republic of Liberty, along with the consent of the Government of Planet Erie decided to form a small police department in charge of inforcing laws and insuring safety of civilians within the system of Pennsylvania. And thus the Pennsylvania Sherrif Department was born.
The hard working, dedicated men and women of the Sheriff's Department keep a close eye on all traffic coming in and out of Pennsylvania, putting their life on the line to insure your safety....

STRUCTURE
Pennsylvania Sheriff's Department ~PSD~ consists of following ranks:

SHERIFF - Main officer in charge of the whole department
UNDERSHERIFF- Second in command of the PSD, charged with overlooking the work of Senior Deputies and the everyday operations of the Department
SENIOR DEPUTY- The more experienced pilots of the Department who have earned respect of their colleagues and citizens of Pennsylvania through hard work and dedication
DEPUTY- Backbone of the Department, these men and women are sworn to uphold the laws and protect civilians at all costs
DEPUTY IN TRAINING- Usually called rookies, these are the fresh recruits who are willing to go through training to become deputies

SHIPS AND EQUIPMENT
Ships and equipment of the PSD consist of the usual Liberty Law inforcment equipment. The department uses the following vessels:

1. LZF-9805 "Liberator" Liberty Light Fighter- Main vessel of the Department- used by all members of the department for standard patrols of the system

2. DL-Hai "Grizzly" Liberty Shuttle
- Heavy crafts used for regular patrols as well as heavy support units. Avaliable to ranks Deputy and above...

3. Li-117 Liberty "Upholder" Bomber
- Special SWAT ships deployed only in case of a presence of an overwhelming enemy fore. Avaliable to ranks Senior Deputy and above

4. Prison Liner
- Special vessel of the PSD avaliable only to the Sheriff and Unersheriff rank, used to transport prisoners from Pennsylvania to various prison stations

5. Liberty Gunboat- Special mobile HQ of the PSD, commanded only by the Sheriff himself. Only used for special field assessments of the Department by the Sheriff and as a security escort in case of a high level diplomatic visit to the system.

Various other utility vessels such as shuttles, freighters and transports for logistic needs of the Department...

ZONE OF OPERATIONS

PSD officers operate only within the system of Pennsylvania and have no jurisdiction outside of the system. Operations outside of Pennsylvania can ONLY be carried out in case of a request by an LPI- or [LN] officer. During escort duties for the prisoner transportation, officers will act only in protection of the transports ship and self-defence unless instructed otherwise by an LPI- or [LN] officer.

DIPLOMACY

Allied: LPI, LN

Fiendly: Liberty corporations

Hostile: All elements hostile to the Republic of Liberty

At war: Liberty Rogues, Outcasts, Lane Hackers and all other independent pirates or criminal groups operating within the system of Pennsylvania

Neutral: All not mentioned above...

//This is a revised post of the PPD, we look forward to any opinions, constructive thoughts and feedback...Recruitment will be opened soon...

While there is no real problem whatsoever with the actual set-up of the faction, I am curious as to why you would restrict the bulk of your activity to one Libertonian system and not simply attempt to sign on with the LPI official faction.

Well the main idea was to create a police faction similar to those US county Sheriff's Departments, we may change our ZOI in the future, but right now we didn't want to get in the way of LPI cuz we are a government funded agency not a branch of LPI, at least that was the idea...

This is a pretty cool idea, I like the thought of local sheriff's departments (though California might be in greater need of one).
This also gives you the chance to engage in the immensely nerve-wracking task of telling every other player in Penn about the restart command.

I'd at least add the NY side of the Pennsylvania jump gate to the ZOI, by the way.
Since it would kinda suck if you kept a trader safe all the way to the gate, only for them to be jumped on the other side.

Edit: Oh yeah, and this:

You definitely need the Grizzly, too. Maybe some Pelicans as well, as the "underfunded Sheriff's Dept. Gunboats".

Another edit: Also, a Liberty Gunboat seems a very small ship to have as an HQ. I recommend a transport instead.

>liberator
>lose

I don't understand.

Anyways, was wondering where the PPD disappeared to. Good to see you back, now I don't need to patrol Pennsylvania. :p

Great!
Would be nice if we had police doing more things like this, police closed to certain areas would be very nice.

Definatly, what with the various posts of idiots pirateing newbies have started to peek again, a dedicated patrol in Penny would be a great idea. Rolled with you guys on SFC|LNS-San.Francisco today and they seem dedicated enough. Could do with some better hardware though, seems the pirates are upgradeing to cruisers.
