My only concern is this will promote power pirating with no real thought or interest in the actual interaction.

I do like the idea though. Makes things interesting, gets peeps involved. All good things.

I actually like the competition...since it actually demands credits for the pirates and not blue messages.

That way, pirates will actually demand reasonable amounts of cash instead of opening fire after two seconds.

Dunno, I am still getting a surprising amount of blue messages even if I give the trader a chance to pick his own sum.
