Right, as we can see in the feedback thread, not even one person objected to keep the SP in the mod. Of course. And since I don't believe that the devs feels different as igiss asked us about it in the first place, I think it would be nice to share some some thoughts about the new possibilities and obligations involved. So first thought about this was the NPC balance: Utterly useless Bretonian, Hacker and Kusarinese NPCs could finally be scaled up to "level 10" just as the Rheinland NPCs.
NPC's need to be nerfed or removed almost altogether.
All they do is provide an obstacle that hinders player interaction. You try playing an order character heading out to gamma from minor to help corsairs when the outcast pvp whores attack them. Just try it.
Undock from isis... oh noes, 12 NPC bounty hunter fighters and a destroyer to go along with it. /hit cruise, wait, they disrupted you. Try again... and again... and again... and again.
you end up using thrusters all the way to the delta jump hole, and then you have to deal with the same goddamn thing all the way through omicron delta until you reach the kappa jump hole.
You barely get through kappa alive because nomad battleships are spawning right on your ass in an attempt to tentacle rape you, and once you finally get into omicron gamma... oh look, more bounty hunters!
Cruise disrupt... cruise disrupt... cruise disrupt... cruise disrupt... all the way to planet crete, and by the time you get their the corsairs have either already fought off the outcast attack, or the outcasts have one and start dock raping anyone that tries to launch from the planet... not to mention you, now out of bots/bats/countermeasures, coming out of the cloud with a fleet of bounty hunter fighters pummeling you to death.
tenacity, removing npc? then all systems are empty. you can fly trough all systems and meet only 2 players. no life in systems. npc are good thing.
and i dont know how is possible that i can fly in titan from gamma to minor or back without any bigger problem with npc. yes, sometime they disrupt me. but not as you are typing .....
If all NPCs in all areas of Sirius are buffed up to the level of Rhineland/Alpha/Gamma/etc., then all player ships (fighters, freighters, etc.) need to be buffed up to the same level, as well as providing enough credits for a starting player to afford one.

What do you guys think?
I say boost them, but remove their cruise disruptors. Then they become more worthy opponents if you want to fight them, and no longer annoyances that take a long time to kill and can never be escaped, ever.
If you remove NPCs from Freelancer, it looks dead. People don't want to fly around barren space. They like to hear comm chatter, they like to see other ships. Get rid of them and people tend to get lonely and tend to start crowding together. New York would become infested O.o

A good way to scale the NPCs would be to make them weak near the centers of the houses, and stronger on the borders...elite Kusari and Bret npcs in the taus, etc...So that the center, safe systems are safe for lower level players, and warzones are dangerous to even transports.
