Hi.
I am running Win XP Sp3 and everything was normal, but a couple of days ago I noticed that when I choose Restart from the Start Menu, my PC does not restart and there is red light blinking near the power button. Computer boots up fine when I do hard reset.

I already checked my fans, my connections, updated my system, but the problem still here. I am thinking about Repairing Windows Installation from the Install CD.

Does anyone have any other ideas on what had happened? I need some help on this one, I really don't want to re-install Windows again, just did it recently.

Thanks.

Seems like the problem was caused by video driver. I am still working on determining what the hell was that.

"Red light blinking near the power button" is kinda meaningless without knowing what model system or mainboard you are using. It's an obvious diagnostic alert - why not consult your computer's documentation and find out what it means?

means the H.DD is having a difficult time writing/overwriting ( for instance when you restart, changes are saved, so the windows starts writing the changes > hence da blink, but perhaps because of AGP / PCII video card, service pack 3 is a load of crap.

Go home, you're drunk.

Anyways Makc, I'd recommending reseating your card, cleaning out the port, then see if the problem would ever come back.

The problem was caused by a game Serious Sam: The Second Encounter. There are 2 modes the games can run in and one mode messed up my pc. After I uninstalled the game everything went back to normal. I also reinstalled Nvidia drivers.

So, the problem is back. I don't know what is going on. I tried different drivers, reseaeted the card. When i choose restart , the light blinks 6 times = Pre-video graphics error. I googled the problem and the only other two options is to change card or the MOBO. These two are not an option right now.

What strikes me strange is that when I do hard reset the computer boots fine. I wonder if re-installing Windows will help? The problem started to occur after i did updated my OS and installed that Serious Sam game.

Another question.
When i got this card, I've heard it's fan to kick in. Then I was messing with the drivers, trying to get the latest one and now the fan doesn't work. I don't think I damaged the card by overheating it, because I haven't done anything new to the pc, I ran same software and my pc case is open, so there is plenty of air coming it.

This is the link to my old mother board specs: http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/hp-085ch-specs/
My Video Card is GeForce 7600 GS, 128, 512 mb.
Win XP, SP3.

I wonder if any PC guru out here could help me with this problem?

Thanks.
