Shield Batteries are useful to re-activate and/or replenish the shield systems of a ship. Upon deactivation, the shields take a while to reactivate and recharge to their full strength. Shield Batteries compose a network of emergency power cells with enough energy to restore and/or recharge shield systems instantly, overriding their regular cycle.
Ships have a limited number of Shield Batteries they can carry. Cost of one battery is $200.
