Gordon Roemer was born on Planet Manhattan to a pilot(father) and an engineer(mother). During the Nomad War, his father had been killed during an assault by the Nomads, an event that was never fully explained to Gordon. Although saddened by this event, he was also inspired to enlist into any branch of the any Liberty force to serve his term, much like his father had.
Not exactly one to be stuck in a region for long moments of time, Gordon thought he could serve his country by accepting various freelance jobs offered by any Liberty officers, using a Starblazer. Although this had worked fairly well, some suggested that he just enlist with a force. Gordon did so with the Liberty Navy, specifically at West Point, and flew in the Liberty Very Heavy Fighter, the Avenger. This escapade did not last long when he had met with the man named Jacob Orine a few months afterward, whom he had met at the bar during one of his rest periods at West Point. While he still had felt the duty of serving Liberty, he just could not accept the lack of freedom that his training and future career had and would enforce. That ideal of service to one's country had shattered the day he met Jacob Orine.
Gordon returned to his old Starblazer and flew around with Jacob Orine for many months. Eventually, the Starblazer became far too unsuitable for the adventures that Gordon embarked on and that it became totalled after diving through an asteroid field. With a "little" funding from Evan Black, Gordon managed to purchase a Viper MkII, a fighter that severely outmatched his old ship by a long margin.
The Viper MkII is the ship he had used during that first exploration and the first encounter with the Nomads. This adventure into the unknown had served two purposes into the changes of Gordon's life: 1) This had kindled the fire of Gordon's desire to explore what had not been explored before and 2) would put together the shattered pieces of the once thought destroyed ideals. By exploring into newer and never fully explored regions, he could pinpoint any locations of possible Nomad assault. He would serve his country in a way he would have never anticipated, nor would it be one that would be endorsed by Liberty.
