The "Ragnarok" forward gun is a trademark Hessian development -- a civilian device adapted and overcharged to the point of becoming a devastating weapon. The weapon originated from a series of plans for an explosive device designed to break apart large asteroids through an energy discharge as opposed to traditional chemical explosives. The Red Hessians successfully built and overcharged this device well beyond theoretical safety margins, and used stolen military technology to adapt the device into a siege weapon by propelling the resultant energy blast in a specific direction.
